Anyone have success mounting mud flaps using the factory fender well holes?? (I do not like the idea of drilling more holes unless I absolutely have to). GM just uses plastic push fasteners, so I was thinking of using SS bolts but I have 33" mudders on a leveling kit so I dont have a ton of room either. But my paint is starting to take a beating so I need to do something!!

Duraflaps Rock! No drilling, outstanding attachment hardware, great protection, totally solid. Mine have been on for more than two years and show no signs of wear or any corrosion on the metal parts (all SS). None of the attachment hardware has loosened up (they provided an allen key for attachment and periodic tightening). I had Husky's on for a couple of months when the truck was brand new and they were completely worthless (I have pictures to prove it) although they were a drilless mount. I contacted Husky, sent them the pictures, and they traded them out for a rear area cover. The only thing left of the Husky's are the marks they left from rubbing on the outside of my fender flares and the rock chips they allowed:( . If I had it to do over I would have gotten the Duraflaps a couple of inches longer for even more protection on my fiver and I'd have left off the SS weights (they're strong enough without them).

So no ones running "molded" flaps?? How about larger fender flares?? I have been thinking of painting mine (tired of getting wax in the poors) but if there is good quality larger (wider) ones i'd be interested...

Thanks for the info guys...

If you're considering larger fender flares instead of mudguards, look at these from Bushwacker:
http://www.bushwacker.com/fender.asp?make2=1&cat2=21&search=Search#

There are several different models and the widest adds 2" of coverage. They are paintable and use factory mounting holes. Their intallation instructions are on the website in PDF format. This product is very high quality and the price reflects that - shop around! By the way, Duraflaps can be used over these for added protection. Molded mudguards are bad news for your fender flares or paint.

The moulded mud flaps are a real tight fit with 33"and bigger tires.

I purchsed the factory GM splash guards with the chevy logo. I had to drill out the rear holes. But the GM factory supplies fasteners with wax that coats the inside of the drilled holes as you thread them through as a corrosion preventer. I went ahead and painted my holes after drilling.

Are the duraflaps supposed to come pre-drilled? I bought a set a while back from somebody online and they are not pre-drilled. Also, I may be stupid, but cannot figure out what to do with the damn brackets. Is there any place to get the installation instructions online?

Thanks

03BlueHD-
There are two types of Duraflaps; one is a standard installation (requires drilling) and the other is drill-less. It looks like you bought the standard type. Don't worry they'll work, but you have to drill your own holes. Here's the link to the installation instructions: http://www.kaydenco.com/inst.html
Good luck on the install...

Well I just got done mounting my Bushwacker 2" Pocket styles. I have to say im less then impressed for what I spent (almost $400). The good news is I just saved a bunch of money on my...j/k

At least I wont have to run huge mud flaps to get the protection im after...

Duraflaps will custom make any size you need. And the drill less installation is great.

What don't you like about the Bushwacker's? I've been interested in the 1.75" since I'm assuming that you have to get the decorative stainless steel hardware on the 2" models. Additionally, where did you get them and what did you have to pay? Any info would be appreciated.
