Guys i need a few questions answered please,i bought my 04 dmax a month ago from a dealer and just noticed a few things
1).the isolation module was just laying under the hood, what is it and where should it be mounted?
2).the tranny was just serviced prior to purchase, checking my dipstick troday it is at least 1-2 quarts overfilled.
3).should the bumpstops be contacting the lower control arms on the front end?.
4).the e-brake pedal goes to the floor.....etc
the list goes on but i am ticked off because the sales guy was gloating a the fact the this was replaced and that was replaced, funny because my checklist of things needing to be fixed grows by the day,i noticed the top 3 in just 5min.under the hood.

can you guys give me info on the isolation module.

1-i don't know what an isolatation module is
2-check trans after warm=10-15 minutes
3-i don't think so.these do have torsion front ends=they are ajustable.maybe someone lowered it a little.
4-my dually does the same thing but,i have not looked into it yet.
where is the module?"from question #1"

the isolation module was tucked between the hydroboost resorvoir and the fuse bklock assembly, but it is not mounted thats what gets me.

as far as the brakes its probably an e-brake adj.I could put the pedal to the floor and the e-brake doesnt hold,i am just pissed because its a used truck with 75k on the clock and allthese things should have been looked at before reselling the truck.PS the tranny was warm,i just drove the truck for about an hour so the tranny was overfilled.

Typical crappy e-brakes on these trucks.
Mine has done it since I got it, I just do not worry about it, and do not use it.

You might check the rear axles for a leaky axle seal. It will soak the emergency pads, which will make the pedal feel mushy and they will not hold. You can adjust them and they will hold (on a flat surface:eek: ) but like Tolli said, they suck.:o:

1:Don't know what that is?
2:Drain some and get to appropriate level before you start to blow seals!
3:Yes, they do sit on the bumpstops (just touch) drive through any dealer and compare - normal. If you don't like it just turn up t-bars a little.;)
4:E-brakes are shitty on these trucks. New 07 off lot does same thing! 03 did too! Try not to park on hills and you will not need it. If you are on a hill and don't use it, make sure that you ease off the brakes gently and don't bounce truck into park!

Don't get so discurraged, I'm sure you will get all the bugs out!:D

1) Pic?
2) Your checking it when it's hot correct?
3)They're not bumpstops. They come from the factory touching. Jounce...something or other...part of the suspension system.
4) Mine goes to the floor but it holds the truck.

i see some type of ecu type module behind the one mounted to the radiator fan schroud, next to fuse block, and seems to be mounted to the battery tray assy, maybe it has been repaired half ass.not saying that is so,unbolt battery and connections and tray and have a look, maybe you will see whats up.i bought mine crashed on other side,if anything is halfass its my fault!

Does the "isolation" module have cables that go to the big bail connectors on the engine, right above the drivers side valve cover??? I'm thinking its a Juice or VA module. Hey, it just might be.....

Parking brakes are not great on these trucks. Could be out of adjustment, could be seeping axle seal (common -- I have to replace one soon myself), could be rusted rotors.

Trans shouldn't be filled over full. Check when warm (as previous posted)

The jounce bumpers should contact (or be slightly above) the lower control arms. They are a surprisingly important part of the front suspension. If they are in bad shape (deformed, ripped up, etc), replace them.

thanks for all the help/info guys,bigd4me2 is correct the isolation module is like a control box with 4 wiring harness plugs on it,i will check tommorrow to see if it goes where he suggested.
As for the e-brake on my 03 ss they go to the floor but hold the truck,on the dmax they floor but they pedal does not come back up when you pull the release,i am sure an adjustment is all that is needed.

Yes it looks like some aftermarket power adding box like the edge.I didnt trace the wires from the box but they go to the front of the truck, the only thing i didnt like was the box is just laying next to the hydroboost unit and brake resovoir and its not mounted.
As for the tranny it looks overfilled by the dealer.FYI in a previous life i was a mechanic for ten yrs or so so i do know quite a bit abut cars but that chapter ended 15 yrs ago,i am just trying to express my disgust with this dealer and get a few questions answered. Thanks again for all the replies and puting up with my long posts.

If it were an Edge or VA, the wires would be wrapped in black nylon covers. If they are bare wires, then I don't know WHAT it is.

Any way you can snap a pic and post it?

I believe it to be a factory part is says isolation module right on the box but like stated before i cant believe it is not mounted.I will try to get pic tomorrow but either way its going back to the dealer to have a few things fixed i will find out what it is and post it up.

Be careful, if it is a power adder, the Dealer may not do any work, under warrantee that is, they will do the work, just charge the hell outta you for it.

And if you were a mechanic in the past, you should know enough to keep the truck from the dealer unless it is a lst ditch effort to make it run.

Mechanicing is like riding a bicycle, you may not have done it in awhile, but you will still know how, and with the help that is available here, ANYTHING is possible to get accomplished, unless you just have money to hand to the service department of the nearest dealer...............

Yeah i get your point about the stealership but i just bought the truck a month ago and my list consists of items they either over looked or should have taken care of in the first place prior to reselling a car, believe me i am not going to pay for a thing and yes i would rather do it myself but i have so many other things going its hard to find the time.
