285/75R16's (the width is pushing it for a 16x6.5" rim) or a 255/85R16 (a hair taller than the 285/75R16 but narrower)

How about on the same truck except 2WD?

Dent man here's the 285/75R -16 BFG AT on my 03

U need some zip ties to tie the left rear inner fender back and the left front where the washer tank is.

How about some low profile 305' http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

My local tire shops don't recommend going beyond 265 in width on the 6.5" rim. It can certainly be done without problems, but that's not to say it should be done.

In fact, GM made the SRW 3500 model's rim 7" wide just to put on the 265's.

I wore out the set on the black 03 and I run 60# air because of pulling trailer a lot.

The tread wore pretty even too.

I get some time I'll take a pic of them if anyone wants.

Is the 7" wide model the same style? That would be a nice upgrade for running 285's! Anyone got any pics of them.....

Has anyone upgraded to 285s, without other mods?

If so what kind of tire and how do you like them?

Yeah, but on the bright side, look how cheap 17x8.5" H2 wheels are!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

You can find a set of four H2 wheels on Ebay for $150 plus shipping. These are the dull-brushed appearing, production versions. A chromed set of H2 wheels will set you back at least $700.

Thank goodness those H2 owners love to run low profile, sport tires on their off-road rigs. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

The H2 wheels are made by Alcoa, forged aluminum. Same as the PYO's.

what's the tallest n widest tire size to fit on on H2 wheel and run on a 2WD

A 2wd is pretty much the same as a 4wd for clearance.. You won't fit anything bigger than 315/70R17's on there, and you'll need the torsion bars cranked up for them.
