I have always wondered; is it normal to have a whine coming from the t-case on decel when in 4x4?

My 07 Classic does the same thing. Didn't notice it with my 03. A friend told me that the gears were straight cut and it was better? I took my dealer mech for a ride and he said it was normal too. It only happens when you step off the peddal and start to coast right? It's a ticking whine.

Yes it's normal...just the gears winding down that's all

Yup, gear whine, it is normal since you have all those gears inside whining away.
