just got juice and attitude on, i have a couple of questions... When i run on level5 now with a stock trans do you think i am loosing power due to the chip cutting back? What i really mean is will the truck be faster with a trans upgrade? it kinda feels like the chip is cutting back but im not sure.. Another question is do you guys feel that suncoast is the company to go with or is there other options? thanks, haas-lly

Welcome to the forum,

You are seeing a backdown for sure in Level 5.......and will go quite a bit faster with a built tranny........

Suncoast is a good company.........I run a Level III.

ATS and TTS are supplying rebuild kits and GOT JUICE is running a yet to be released DTT and Bullydog is offering one as well........

If you do a search you can find all kinds of interesting reading including a tranny upgrade poll I started in this forum.

Mike L is a tranny builder in CA and dmaxallitech is one of our resident tech's and does upgrades in MI.

Any of the companies can direct you to an installer local to you or ship a complete drop in unit.

Happy reading..........http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

There is a lot of good information about transmissions on this forum.

I think there are 2 camps currently. ATS for the guy who needs the 'competition' grade trans that he can dial down for regular driving; And Suncoast which is slightly less hardcore for daily driving.

Both companies build a good product and have good reputations.

I think the Suncoast can be just as hardcore racing as ATS, and ATS can be just as streetable. None of these well know trans builders are building bad stuff. They are all on the cutting edge with some big horsepower to deal with and that my friend as you know is not easy. Your friends at DTT are coming out with new stuff and so are other good trans builders. It will only get better because competition is a driving force for better technology. My dad can beatup your dad. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif The game is afoot. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

Hey Mike, I was just making a correlation between the pullers and the non-pullers.

It seems like the most hardcore guys are going with the ATS. Just an observation of mine.

I have made the same observations. I will be doing testing on the Copilot very soon.

If any allison tranny upgrades are done to it, how does that affect the warranty?

Your trans warantee should be voided. I would say that for general warantee work a SC acts pretty stock like and there isnt any magic box that the dealer may get curious about if he did see it and poke around furthur.

You can pretty much count out the GM warranty if anyone else cracks the case. Mine is big and purple so there is definately no doubt it isn't a stocker.
