Whats the difference between the Staga IV kit and the Stage V completely assembled tranny.

Im looking at buying a second used tranny and just taking my time to build it. Unless you think this job can be done in a weekend. Ive heard Merchant can do it in a half day but they know what theyre doing.

IIRC, Stage 5 has a suncoast direct warranty.

The V has some things in it that a IV doesn't and have not had any luck on finding out what they are. Its a secret.

SO if I were to have Merchant build mine it would be the same as mine parts wise?

Thanks. That would be the Joe Farmer Smoke tune that I modified a lil bit.Hehe.

Great for fun. However last fillup I was at 10mpg. I can usually get 18mpg. Woops usuing my smoke tune a lil too much. Stupid DSP5.

Probably depends on who is doing the work. There are a couple guys on here that know Allison LCT 1000. Im sure they each have their own processes and tricks.

From Suncoast the obvious difference is the IV is the top Kit, the V is a complete assembly with a "2 yr, no limit on mileage, power input or use" warranty.

I know this next statement is going to get a response...

Back in 2005 Joe Webb told me in an email the Stage V has, "Additional upgrades that require in-house machining, additional frictions in C3 & C4, over and above the kits, valve mods in the pump circuit, and the 2 yr warranty period. Stage 5 uses custom pistons and higher line pressures". This is a direct quote from that email about 2 years ago.

Joe started Webb's Transmission in 1969 and SunCoast Converters and Diesel Performance Inc. in 1989. Joe unexpectedly, left us on December 12, 2006.

Well after a used tranny, upgrade kit, TC I would be set back about $4500 plus shipping if its not included.

I forgot, whaat is Merchants price on a Stage V w/converter shipped both ways??

I guess its not worth doing it myslef but it would have been an experience. Im surprised this is one thing that is cheaper to not do yourself numbers wise.

Personally, when it comes to the Allison and lots of power over stock, I would only allow someone that has been there many times before. ;)
