: Coolant flush - Can I do it like this?

I'm pulling my radiator and cleaning it as soon as the rain stops.
This is how I was planning on flushing the system after I reinstall it:

-I am going to install a T-fitting in the coolant hose that goes from the heater core to the rad (bottom pass side)
-Disconnect the line that flows hot coolant from the top of the motor to the top of the rad (drivers side)
-Connect a hose to the T-fitting, turn on the hose, turn on the engine.
-When it gets hot, the thermostat should open, and the water from the hose should travel through the block, and exit out the hose on top of the motor that I have disconnected.
-When the coolant has finished being flushed, there should be only water coming out the top hose.
-Turn off the motor, turn off the hose.
-Reconnect all the lines, and fill with coolant normally

Sound like a plan?
Also, how much trans fluid will come out of the rad when I disconnect those lines?

When i pulled my rad for cleaning only a very small bit of tranny fluid dribbled out, not even enough to worry about adding back.

Don't know about your flush procedure but very little trans fluid comes out, couple of ounces at the most. I used some putty that I had to plug the end of the line.

OK, no worries on the trans fluid then.

How did you flush your coolant?

I didn't do a complete flush, probably should have. I just opened the drain valve on the bottom driver's side of the rad and dropped the lower rad hose. I don't think that get all of the coolant out though.

I think if you do that and then just pour water in the coolant tank with the valve open and the lower hose off it will flush out what's left. Then I think you can use some low pressure air to push the water out.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
