I have done all my oils changes according to the % oil life monitor. this last one I sent a sample to Blackstone. i didnt know exacatly how many miles were on the oil but considering the truck had ~43,000 and this was the 4th oil change i have done it averages out to ~10,000 miles for when the onboard cumputer says i need to change the oil. Here is the report that I got back. What are your thoughts.

I wouldn't worry about it. Keep an eye on your iron, and you're good.

Just remember those monitors give an "estimate" of when to change. They don't monitor the oil itself, just things the computer can monitor...revolutions, engine temps, etc. Based off this info, it gives an estimated life to the oil.

Exaclty id keep doing analysis and go based on that, the copmputer doesnt "test the oil" just guesses.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of oil/filter do you use? Looks like its doing pretty good. I usually try to change mine when it reads ~30% life remaining, just to be safe.

I use rotella 15w40 and WIX air, fuel, and oil filters. i dont change till it is atleast below 5%. sometime it will sit at 0% for a couple of weeks before i get around to changing things. Most of the time is is dinging at me "change the oil dumbass" :D :D Oh, and this isnt a babied up commuter dooley. i have the Jetta for that. If this truck is on the road it is towing or hauling something.
