I got efi a few months ago and the first time i scanned for troble codes i got P0650 (malfuntion indicator lamp, in the powertrain control module) i have dont a few searches and couldnt figure out how to get rid of this code, i reset it and it will come right back. so has anyone had this code? or does anyone have an idea how to correct it?

That's the Check engine light.
Does it come on when you turn the key without stating the motor?
Could be shorted wire, bad bulb, bad cluster or bad ECM.
Have you ever pulled the cluster out? Maybe one of the pins isn't seated?

i got a new usspeedo cluster, and it did it with the old cluster and new cluster. and the engine light does not come on. there is nothing out of the ordinary wrong with the truck, expect when i check my codes i always have p0650. my old cluster stepper motors quit working, but when i switched to the new cluster it shouldve corrected the problem right?

wanadmxsub got me thinkin, could the P0650 code be due to a bad sender unit? when i first start my truck the oil pressure reads about 90 idle, and 120 when i start moving. but after about 5 or 10 min it goes to idle at 30 or less idle, and 60 or less while moving. so im pretty sure my sender unit may be going out, but not 100% sure.

PO650 is a failure of the Check engine light self test.
Here's a thought...check you warranty book under emissions...it might just be covered.

I've been having this code for a couple of months now. The dealer replaced the cluster to no avail. The GM tech tells me the next step is the ECM, and that he was told GM wants the old ECM back. He thinks this means they suspect a programmer (I have one) is the culprit, and that '07 and newer (including the "Classic") ECU records when you add a programmer, and they'll void my warranty over it.
