I have an 05 duramax with a kennedy cold air and a expandite 5 inch exhaust turbo back and Im runing the edge with juice. Ive had all this on for about 3 or 4 months. Ive never had any problems till a week ago. I was driving 70 or so with the cruise on and I heard a pop sound then I lost all power. I slowed down to a stop and it was runing like crap. Sounds like a old john deere tractor. I have no power and it will drive about 5 mph. I killed it a few times and nothing happened. It still ran like that. I left it over night and came back the next morning and it fired right up. No problems at all. Check engine light was still on so i ran a code test at the local mechanic. Some trans. codes and some emmision codes came up. Then the check engine light went off and it rain great for a few days. Now its back to running like crap. I didnt know if i needed to get the egr blocker plate and that would fix it or just what. If anyone knows anything I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Sounds like another harness rub through. :damnit1:

Well I dont have any idea what it is. All I know is that it wont run and this is my first Duramax so I dont know all that much about them.

Sounds like harness either up by the FICM or possibly the #7 injctor plug.

undo the zip tie in the attached pic and check the underside ofthe harness for rub through.

Yep I agree with these guys, since it comes and goes its likely the harness as shown by Cougar281 or its gonna be the #7 and/or #2 injector connectors.

Ok looked at the harness you showed Cougar281 and I took a picture of it. Looks like it rubbed through and the rubber on the wire are somewhat rubbed. I didnt see any exposed wire though. What should I do if this is the problem.

I think it may have rubbed through... If you look at the bracket, that spot on the front looks almost like it was made by arcing. I'd say seal up that red wire, and get some heater hose to put between the harness and bracket.

Ok so what should I do....break my wires down and check them closer to make sure thats the problem. What will fix this kinda thing.

Well, regardless of weather it IS the problem, although it looks like it might be, get some heater hose, split it, and put it over the harness where it meets the bracket. That should prevent rub-through again. It's PROBABLY just that red wire, so seal it up with electircal tape.

keep the wires from arcing. def looks like the wires are arcing on the holding bracket, pull the wire loom apart and find the bad wire and wrap it with electrical tape and then put the loom bakc together and wrap it with heater hose or some kind of thick tubing so the hold down wont rub through the harness and wires again

Alright I did all of that stuff...I never really saw a wire that was exposed though so I dont know but I went through all of them and wrapped them up good with black tape. Now I just need to get some of that heater hose to keep it from running. I started it up and it seemed to run good. Ill take her out and run it for awhile and see.

My 2005 is doing the exact same thing. Does the engine light go off immediately when you find the right wire. I didn't see a rubbed wire either, but my truck sounds fine. I also lost the fuel gauge and that seems to be ok now. Also, I took it to the chevy garage and they told me the #2 and #7 injectors were not working.

My truck still isnt workin up to par. Its throwing a P0202 (Injector circuit open cylinder 2) and P2149 (Injector GRP B supply voltage circuit open). Ok I have no idea what that mean. Can I fix it or do I just need to take it in and have someone look at it. The truck still runs like crap and it dont sound good. 2000 rpms and about 10 mph is all I can get it up to.

Sounds like an injector harness for the #2 injector. There is a DIY on this site, but if you are under warranty, the dealer should be able to fix it for you.
