Was that the stock unit or an aftermarket replacement? Kinda looks like it has the soft boot over the CV.

Did you by chance break the tie rod too?If that gives first, and the front tires are spinning, the CV explodes about 2 seconds later!About $190.00 aftermarket with a lifetime warranty.Dealer parts are around $385.00!

ok, i agree with the stock fornt end part of the story. but if its the truck in your sig the rest of the mods may have greatly contributed to the failure. on top of thefact it could have been ready to fail before pulling the dodge.
I can't count how many times I have broke an axle just riding down the road. but it was due to being weakend by the stuff done to it weeks before.

The tierod on the oposite side snaped and yep it was a stock CV. Hope I can find a tierod and a CV this morning when the auto parts stores open today :(

I've been running around with the Diablo on the 120 setting for a while and the last time I had it in 4 wheel was at a track so I'm pretty sure the abuse added with the tune and hitting the gas too early contributed to the failure.

Or at least use the Cognito braces.

http://www.rcvperformance.com/products.html. These guys say that their CV's will make your front end a lot stronger. The front end might be weaker than a solid axle, but if you take the proper percations, it will last you a long time.

Happens over time, do not blame the Dodge. heck you were towing it wern't you? That means the Dudge was already broke or stuck.....hehe

Get the item as stated above, and you will go ALOT longer with out a problem.

If you are gonna play, you will eventually pay!

you most likely broke the cv becuase of the front end towing in while in 4wheel drive....at least get SD tie rod sleeves

I bet that this (cognito leveling, 305/55 20 Nitto's on Ice Metal 889's) had something to do with it... Maybe?

So you're saying your front end it stock, but you've added a leveling kit? Hmmmmmm........and you've been doing boosted launches in 4wd? And you were towing or playing tug of war with a Dodge?

I'm willing to bet that the CV angles from your leveling kit has put enough strain on them that this happened. You should probably breing the front down or go with a 4" kit to get level CV's.

Playin tug o war. problem was I was pulling him pretty good when I decided to give it a little more gas and then it blew apart. The drivers side had a sleeve on the tierod. I made my own sleeves and took the passengers side off becaause I got the taps to thread them and redo em. I forgot about that and my nefew was talking up that dodge. Not a good idea LOL. Live and learn.

Was going to be my first question. I see it was answered.
How insane that GM or any other manufacturer can't engineer their cv joints to withstand normal use.
