I just recieved my TTS Extreme Powerloader, I installed the powerloader exactly as instructed. Everything went smoothly. Took a couple minutes and truck started just fine ran for a minute. Went to install the switch for the 3 positions. Got it mounted in the cab and wires ran, ground hooked up and the green wire to the computer. Moved the TCM to the side and got to the ECM pulled the blue conector closest to the motor and got the cover off and the blue protector and snapped it into #69, "checked that several times". Went to go start the truck nothing. Tried disconecting the batteries for a few minutes nothing tried finding a "preditor" code all I got was error with ignition cycle... Any thoughts?

Thanks Jonhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gifEdited by: big_jon00

Try disconnecting the ground comming off the one side of the switch. That should tell you if the new wire is causing problems or something else. Perhaps a pin got pushed back or ????

You have pin 69 on the correct plug right?

yes i do, I have checked that humm at least a dozzen times now the pins next to it are 68 and 70 it went rigth between those two. The ground didn't make a difference I am going to try pulling the 69 pin and seeing if I can get it to run at least.

Well if you disconnected the ground it is the same as pulling the pin out of the ecm. The wire will be an open circuit. So I think you need to be looking elsewhere.

It was pointless... Nothing changed.

I don't know if it is some sort of computer securtiy protection, the key was in my pocket when I disconected the ECM. When I go to turn the key to on trying to start it the little security light stays lit. I don't remember if it always did that in the run position or not? I will check with some friends at the local shop and see if it sounds like a security problem. The powerloader does have the right vin on it. I guess I'll find out more, I know that its a pain to reset the vin or securtiy in the ECM's I have heard some of the local guys complain about doing them.. Thanks for the input hopefully I get it figured out soonhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley18.gif

I think you are overlooking something that has pulled out or bent over or something to that effect.

Check to make sure you didn't damage any wire on the ECM or TCM. They are hard to work with and perhaps you pulled on something too hard or pulled a plug off or wire out and didn't notice. I'd be willing to bet that is where your problems is.

Also check all your fuses for the hell of it.

Does the truck appear to function normal and just doesn't crank?

im sure you have done this by nowhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley18.gif but you might try unhooking the pcm completely and letting it set for about 15 min or so. also like max power said make sure everywhere you have a wire comeing in that the pin is all the way down in the connector. have you tried to get in touch with steve? i'm sure he could steer you in the right direction.

Yeah seems normal just doesn't crank. The only thing i noticed it doing funny is that when when it sit in the run position for a little while. I have the dual digital climate control and the light for the cab air circulation comes on and I can here the flapper move with the climate control turned completly off that one light is on. Well off to check the fuseshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

I did end up pulling both conectors and letting it sit for a while checking the pins on the pcm and checking the pins in the conectors...

Thanks Jon

you said the truck ran before you hooked up the switch AFTER you changed the ecm? are you sure?

if you're 100% sure it DID run, then you most likely damaged a wire or the harness. perhaps a pin got pushed back through the connector or bent. check the ECM pins as well as looking through the clear plastic on the wiring harnesses.

if it really didn't even run after you switched the ECM you need to go through a ECM security procedure, for lack of a better term.

if i remember correctly, you turn the key to on, wait 60 seconds, turn key to off. wait 10 minutes. repeat the last 2 items twice so it itakes about 30 minutes. i believe during 1 of the 2 steps the security light will go out, or stop flashing as an indicator.

however if they truck did in fact run when you first installed the ECM i don't think the above procedure will work. Diesel Tech will know, but he's at the SEMA show all week.
