I was running a search to see if anything had come out on the net about new products being released at SEMA this year.. It discussed some of GM's concept vehicles.. It says "High-performance versions of the Silverado include a Craftsman Truck Series edition and a Performance Diesel powered by the Duramax 6.6-liter V-8"..

I wonder what's in store for us...

Nothing that hasn't already been done by the members hereI'm sure. They're probably getting cues from this site.

Pictures from SEMA are just now hitting the internet but here is some information courtesy of GMinsidenews.

Modern diesel-powered trucks are obliterating the stodgy, dirty image created by diesels of yesteryear. Powered by the acclaimed 6.6L Duramax, this short-box, four-wheel-drive 2500 Silverado hits the road with more than 700 lb.-ft. of torque. The results are impressive and match the heavy-duty character of this Chevrolet.

Intercooler added to turbocharging system
Improved engine breathing with new air box and massive exhaust system
Allison heavy-transmission utilizes reprogrammed shift schedules
A 11.5-inch rear axle assembly handles the additional power from the drivetrain
Grill and hood from the 2500 Silverado HD
Suspension lowered, and custom wheels and tires fill wheel wells
Customfour-piece tonneau cover protects the short box and its cargo while allowing gooseneck trailering with removal of the center panel.
Integrated towing package features a folding mounting ball, brake controller and auxiliary gauges
Custom trim pieces for instrument cluster and doors

Win on Sunday. Sell on Monday – especially when the truck you offer on Monday looks like the one that won on Sunday. This specially themed Silverado show vehicle uses racing-based cues derived from the Silverados that race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, linking the speedway to trucks people can drive on the streets. Multiple bolt-on performance enhancers back up the truck’s racy looks.

Improved engine breathing with low-restriction air box and cat-back exhaust system
9.5-inch rear axle assembly
6-lug NASCAR-style wheels with NASCAR-look tires
Lowered suspension
Custom drilled brake rotors and painted brake calipers
Special front fascia with a NASCAR-themed look
Tonneau cover with integrated rear spoiler
Unique interior badging

why did they use a 2500 crew cab short box instead of a 2500HD crew cab short box?

tomac,

I think it is the HD; 11.5in rear end, alli trans, 6.6 diesel. Sounds like an HD. Then again maybe there is something else in store for the HD's.

The wheels don't look like they're for an HD, either.

The only problem is we have had it for 3-4 years. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif It would been nice to have it all on there from the getgo, but then again, you STILL have to add another fuel filter.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif No matter how much they give us, we will want more.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif

Okay, now the more important questions:

1. When can you get one?

2. Will they be special order only?

3. Do you think I can talk the wife into taking mine so I can have the new one? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif
