Am I missing anything if I don't take my truck in for the update? My truck doesn't really exhibit any of the problems talked about. IT will smoke a little when driving at slow speeds in heavy traffic but after I accelerate and get the rpms up it will go away. It's like it loads up on fuel. Anyway Is it still to my advantage to have the up date done. Are the MPG's going to get better? Or should I just leave it alone. Also why do some trucks have these problems and others don't. Aren't the programs used the same? Just some questions

Mine seems to have a bit better low end response as well, but that's strictly a seat of the pants assessment. It got rid of the parking lot, low RPM surge and we'll see if it fixed the smoking after idleing for awhile now that it's getting cold around here.

Not sure what color smoke you've got, but IIRC, this flash is to help those trucks that show a white colored smoke. Dark colored smoke may mean your truck is running a little on the rich side. Mine would blow out some really light colored, either white or really light blue colored smoke after sitting idleing for a period of time to warm up last Winter.

FWIW I'm taking my '05 in for the updated flash on Monday. I
figure it can't hurt (I hope) - there's a reason they updated it.
