Any of you guys running Pyrometers with your PPE tuners? If you are what temps are you seeing. I'm seeing temps that are WAY higher than my modified LB7 200-300 degrees. towing stock I was easily hitting 1300-1400 sustained, and I was FAR from pushing it, 55-60mph 7,000Lb 5th wheel:eek: on what I consider small hills.

Im not running PPE but I have noticed the same issue.I have always heard that 1400 is HOT. I've been trying to find out if their is any changes to the turbo ,just by searches on the net but so far nothing. You would think GM knows this and has compinsated for the extra EGT's, did end up putting it on the stock setting and it is still hotter than you would like to see.I pull around a 5000lbs flat bed trailer during the week and see high temps,Can't wait to pull my fifth wheel to see those moltin metal temps.(14,000)lbs.

I am using a PPE EGT guage to monitor my motor, which has the PPE tuner. I tried towing my 12,000 lb 5th wheel in level 2 but the EGT's went up to 1400. I pulled over and put the PPE tuner at level 1 and the EGT's never went over 1200 and that was towing up some serious grades. I found that while towing take advantage of the manual tranny control on the column shifter that way you can keep your motor at the peak RPM levels which will lower your EGT's. My LMM is mainly stock other than opening up the airbox like PPE recommends and I have 33" BFG's on my truck. Another reason why your EGT's may be getting high is when the motor goes into the Regen mode.

interesting guys, Keep that temp at or below 1400 that motor has a few different changes from the LBZ internally which will allow it to run at or below 1400 but i would not get greedy ladies and gents i think if you take off the exhaust and the dpf you will see a huge drop considering no more regen which means way less eg temps on top of less back pressure on the turbo, if you can deal with the light being on for about 3 weeks everyone will have a sollution for programming by then, ps better mileage etc without the dpf and if you go through the right exhaust guy you can get a setup that will un bolt and re bolt very easily incase you have to switch back and forth..... catch my drift?
