: ECM reflash for 2005s?

I am wondering if the 2005s automatically include the latest reflashes (newest Software) or is this just done as required?

Is the Software the same than for the 2004.5 LLY with some small differences in programming to get the 310 HP and 605 lbs-ft?

What exactly is fuel know (aside from the normal diesel knock?

Thanks in advance

the fuel knock on the LLY's is actually the sound of the external injectors, something with the pulse rate, but not exactly sure what the technical term of it is.

I asked the question when I picked-up my '05 in September. Dealer said
a truck coming off the line should have all current updates. He said
he would check though if I ever have the truck in for service.

Question - Would an update flash be covered under warranty???

On edit: Eric posted some info on the reflash at the below link - my truck may not have it?????

Many times the updates will NOT be applied. You'd have to ask the guys "on the line" for sure, but I believe they have the ECM's programmed and "on the shelf" so the production stuff will have a lag in updating. I should know soon...

I have checked and all of the 2005 trucks that we got DID NOT have the newest programming, but I put it in during the PDI so I could hear myself think on the test drivehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

Thanks - should answer alot of questions for us '05 owners.

I stopped by my dealer. He is going to check to see if I have all
the updates on Monday when my truck is in to check on a P/S pump
whine. Even though my dealer doesn't have a diesel mechanic on
site he says that they are anal about keeping their Tech II up-to-date
so they should have any available updates even though they were not
aware of any update specifically for the Duramax (until I showed them
the TSB http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif).

Well, I wasn't able to get the reflash. Dealer said his Tech II
is updated every 2 weeks and he has no such update yet. Is it
possible that the Chevy's got it distributed before the GMC division??
