Just changed my differential fluids and found the front end to be ½ quart low and the rear end a full quart low. I'm glad I did this @ only 4000 miles. Seems maybe GM is trying to save some money in lubricants. I'll be talking to the dealer too as I was specifically told they check ALL levels during a pre-inspection before they sit on the lot.

Found my fluids low also. 1 qt in the rear diff, 1/2 qt in the ft. diff and 1/2 qt in the xfer case.

problem is now its full, should off had it noted in the first place, but you didnt know it until you drained it. I would make sure they have it on record, but I doubt that there is any need for alarm. Your right, they should off all been checked and filled during the PDI inspections
Some fluid could be lost to the axle tubes but I doubt that much
