Watch for the converter locked symbol. When locked, it will be less than 1% When unlocked it will show the torque converter's torque multiplication (stall speed) which will vary based on load and power output...

if your tc is not locked of course its gonna slip, this is totally normal. now if the little lock symbol is there and it's slipping, which i doubt it is, your in big trouble. the tranny will eat itself over time if you keep runnin it in 5, and switching between 3-5 is not helping. id leave it on 4 and be done with it.

Yeah, what CB said.
When I run around in L4, under very light throttle, like in town, I
think the TCM doesn't know how to act. It waits and waits and
waits to lock. Now, go and hammer it, and it shifts and locks
fine.
When the TC is unlocked, all you're doing, as far as I know, is making
heat. That's why she stays unlocked when cold. I don't
believe hard-parts damage is possible from unlocked running UNTIL for
example you break down the oil from extreme temps and then stuff starts
wearing elsewhere in the tranny. But that's not a very likely
scenario.
Changing levels around all the time does not help. My truck no lika that at all.
I think the goofiness comes from driving the truck with soft pedal in
"hot" settings.....you probably would have better results leaving it in
level 3 and just make your foot travel a little further. L5 is no
good to your stock tranny anyway.

if i drive it in level 5 it shifts and drives like stock...
Any other level and it stutters and shifts like crap.... I guess ill put it in 3 and drive for a next few hundred, but then when I do want to hammer down on it in and switch to Level 5 it want know what to do!!!!!
Thats what sucks....
Maybe I should buy a SC or ATS tranny, becuase IMO not runnign in Level 5 all the time sucks especially when i try and go to the strip...
