Is anybody running a KN air filter and is there any problems with it. One of my Ford powerstoke buddies burned up a turbo and the dealer said the Kn Filter caused it.

I've been running a K&N for a while on all my Trucks, Including My d-max and never had a problem.

You Buddies turbo was probably an oil related failure.. all the air filter would do is provide more air...

does anybody know when the K&N intake system will be offered for the LLY, or what other intake systems would you recommend.

There is a big topic about the different filter options for the dmax.
All filters tested at an independant facility. K&N as well as
others flow just more dirt and produce more noise but don't produce any
extra power. Its a good marketing gag and many (too many) believe it.

I have believed it myself for a long time. I had K&Ns in different
vehicles (trucks) without any improvement at all. I just did not know
at that time that these filters allow much more dirt into the engine
that the standard paper filter.

A technician told me the filter oil gets on the MAF Sensor and causes problems.

Only way the filter oil gets on the Mass airflow sensor is if you over oil the filter. A little oil goes a long way. Even if it did get on the sensor you can clean it off with a contact cleaner. This has been discussed in the forum before.

Stick with the stock AC Delco filter. It allows more than enough air. This question has been visited in great detail. Follow the link posted above by LOCO. Edited by: ronadycks
