Hauled my 16 ft. trailer north and stopped at the Flying J in Wytheville, VA. There sat a dually with a HUGE, tri-axle car hauler behind it. Asked the driver how it was running. He said, "fine" and proudly told me it had over 800,000 miles on it. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Could not believe that when you figure out how many miles a year that would be. The truck looked pretty nice. Asked the guy if I could just see what a huge figure like that looked like on his odometer. There it was. Saw it with my own disbelieving eyes.

I had to move my rig before he could share any details of repairs and maintenance with me.

Back on the road early in the morning. Bikes, tools and furniture heading for Florida. Fuel prices are a joke and I turned down a job hauling to Louisiana. Boss said there would be a big raise coming. I won't hold my breath.

I got relatives in Wytheville, VA. Know that Flying J well. I suggest
spending as little time in Wytheville as possible, that's what i try to
do. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

Very impressive to hear how many miles that '99 has... comes down to about 160,000 miles per year. That guy lives in his truck!

That doesn't surprise me. There is a guy that has an '03 Dodge Cummins which turned one year and he already has 169,000 miles on it at www.dieseltruckresource.com (http://www.dieseltruckresource.com). No problems what so ever. These engine are just amazing.....

Heard a "big truck" on the CB. He said his International was an '01 model that was just turning 900,000 miles. That would be at least 235,000 miles per year. Must be part of a team driver. Can't figure how one person could drive that much year-after-year.

Maybe that's why so many commercial drivers are quite nuts.

Towed my new trailer to Florida the past two days. It was loaded but I do not know the weight. 8 1/2 ft. high and 16ft. long, I got 15mpg solid at mostly 70mph.
