HEllo every one im pretty new to all this but am wondering if there is a diffrence between the ppe and the rbp programer from the pics i have seen they look excatley the same with just difrrent labels on them the buttons are all in the same place and all the fuctions look to be the same. i have the RBP programer and so far am not to happy with it as in level 2 programing it reduced my mpg by almost 2 on avg and this is on a 200 mile trip on each direction. and in retrospect the power was decent but not worth the loss in mpg. are theese the same programers with diffrent names or do they just for some funy reason look the same thanks for all the help and am learning alot from the site

Call Roland at RBP to confirm this. I was told that the housing comes from the same supplier. The motherboard also comes from the same supplier. RBP and PPE do their own seperate programming. All I have heard is that RBP's numbers are more accurate than PPE with regards to actual horsepower and torque.

How are you on the throttle? If you are laying on the gas with all that new horsepower than YES no matter what tuner you have regardless running it in an 'Economy' setting your fuel mileage will take a dump! If u drive it normally you should notice an increase. Also, keep your shifts under 2000 rpm and you'll notice an increase.

Roland is somewhat correct there are 3 main engineers in the diesel world all which came from 3 prodominant companies, edge, banks and GM all 3 together now behind the scenens engineer and produce 93 percent of all the tunners and chips on the market currently, scary huh, basically the companies tell them hey I want something that will do around this, than they pay the bucks the real men make it put there name on it then go back into hiding, and RBP's numbers are not any more accurate the PPE actually less , PPE spends extensive in house testing on there dyno, trust me there numbers are right on point.

Which is best? You make the call!:) Its like an IPod with two different music lists, some things may be the same or similar , but there are differences because two different companies and people did the work. And of course they both think there's is better.:o:

thanks well yes the right foot does have alot to do with the mpg but i have driven it like grandma and have still seen a decrease in mpg when i first bought my truck i drove from cali to colorado with 2500 lbs in the back and at 80 mph did an avg of 17.5 mpg and about 19mpg on the way back i have had the tuner for a monthsnow and have 7000 miles on my truck did a trip both ways one in level3 and in level2 from so cal to vegas i did 16 mpg at 80 and around trown esy on the the trottle i get about 15 in level 2-3 so so far i have not seen a increase in milage and honestly for the almost 700 dollars for the tuner i dont think the power is all that great even in level 3 i have not tired level 4 yet due to no guages but i apreciate all the honest answers here and have learned alot thanks

I think if you are looking for mpg level 4 or level 1 are your answer, I know it sounds funny , but I think that's the deal.:o:

Hey Fire put it on level 4 and get back to us, hahahaha it is insane make sure you let that tranny relearn, make some passes through the gears at different throttle positions etc then switch to tow haul and do the same, then stab it and hold on I lit up a gto last night 3 consecutive times at 3 different lights and I get acura NSX's all day long with stock tires and thats doing a one liner through 3rd pulling my foot out of it, I live about 3 miles from little saigon in cali, you can imagine how much fun i have, i run the same loop 3 times a week, its not right how much fun it is

ok well i stepped up and have been running level 4 since my last post and yes there is a bigger notice now in power and it does actually seem to get better mpg on the freeway comute but around down i have driven both light on the gas and heavy and all around its about 13 mpg avg still way better then my 06 hd with the 6.0 haha i did also try level1 with not really any improvement on mpg. and performance really not to noticible so so far on the highway i think level 4 is the best mpg wich seems strange but ok i have lit the tires a few times and yea have put a few civics and a4s to shame iam just a little wooried about one the tranny and two the temps getting to high i will be getting a digital guage for the temps so we will see where those are at any body else have any other sugestions for the tranny or the safety of level 4-5 programing thanks

oh yea level 4 does seem to make the truck regen faster then stock and level 2-3 wich really kills the gas i was able to fill my truck up and my truck went into regen mode by my calculations it used about 3- 4 galons just in regen mode going about 60 on the freeway tht regen sure does seem to hurt the mpg
