I'm considering a relatively mild lift for my truck. I'd really like to be able to fit 285/75 tires with no trimming, torsion bar cranking, etc. I'd also like to be able to use chains when needed.
Mainly, I'd like to avoid headaches with a lift. It has to be reliable and worry free. Is there such a lift out there?

I have the same truck setup you have. Ext cab with the short box.I put on the tires you are speaking of without any lift or "real" mods to my truck. Had to take a heat gun to the front after market mud flaps and bend them back a bit at the bottom. Also tied back the plastic in the driver's side wheel well. No lift or torsion bar cranking. No problems at all.

For 285's you need to trim or crank a stock truck, with stock wheels you may be close. If you want aftermarket wheels they'll hit on a stock truck. 2-3 turns on the T bars isn't too bad, just have align checked. If your heart is set on a mild lift look at the rancho 4", our shop can install one in about 3-4 hours.

I have a 6 inch Superlift that I am extremely happy with. You do, however need to purchase the front drive shaft if you want to use your 4wd over 35mph. Lots of vibration if you don't.

coyotekid Did you give up on the body lift?

Yeah, I think I'm gonna stay away from body lifts. I'm not wild about how much frame ends up showing, but that's just my opinion.

I seriously considered a body lift because I just didn't want to get a 6" lift. After messing around with green keys for a while, I went with the Rancho 4" suspension lift, which I like very much. With the torsion bars set to normal height, you get 4" of lift which looks good with about any 32-33" tire. You can crank the t-bars up to get nearly 6" inches and squeeze 35" tires but it's a lot of tire for the lift. The only drawback to the 4" Rancho is it pushes the wheels out 1.5" on both sides, so you get some tread outside the fender wells. It's not bad with 4 5/8" backspaced wheels though. I'm considering some aftermarket fender flares to get the tires covered.

DMax-Doug,
Could we see a photo of your truck with Rancho kit and the wheels with the 4 5/8" back-spacing? Please? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif
Also, did you do the installation for the Rancho kit?
Thanks....

Yeah, your truck is soo sweet. I wasn't going to lift this one, but
after I saw yours, I think I am going to have to. I loved the Rancho I
had on my Tahoe. If I lift it, that's the route I will go.
