I'm looking at a high mileage Duramax/Allison combination, close to 150,000 miles on the truck.
High mileage alone doesn't scare me, but I put on quite a few miles myself. I'd be at 300,000 in 3 years. I know the engine was made to handle that type of mileage, before needing to be rebuilt, but what would I be looking at when I get to 300,000 miles? Rebuild? Replace? What might the rebuild involve?
Has anyone put that many miles (300,000) on a D/A combination already? What was the result?
Thanks for any input.

I believe that the motor itself will easily handle that mileage if properly cared for.
My only concern would be injectors. You will have 200,000mile warranty on the injectors. Hopefully you can have them replaced as close to 200,000 miles as possible and then you should easily be good to 300,000 or more.
You can post the VIN in the ask the techs forum and someone will hopefully post a warranty history on this truck. That will give you a reallly good idea where you are at.
Broker is a member on this site who claims well over the mileage you are looking at in several duramax's will no problems.

Try and PM Broker (member here) He had several that were used in commercial applications. High milage.
Lot of what would concern you is how truck was looked after, by
previous owner. Regular oil changes, fuel filter.
Injectors.
In the Ask The Techs section, you can ask someone to run the VIN for a background check on the history of the truck.
Welcome to the forum.
I hope my truck will last into the 5 to 600,000 mile range. Only time and proper maintenance will tell.
Good luck.

I wouldnt buy it unless you have a complete maintenance record.

I wouldn't buy it. Wait until you can find something with lower mileage.
