Hi guys, I REALLY need an answer on this pretty quick!!


I have a busted up 6.2 J code motor that I have torn down for rebuild. I found a C code 6.2 that is nearby that has about 200,000 miles on it, and ran good before getting pulled. I have a Banks Sidewinder setup on my Suburban, and I'm wondering if it is OK to take this C code motor and run it in this application until I get the $$ to finish my J code 6.2. It only runs about 8#'s of boost!!!


The truth is, I dont know the differences between the J and C code motors. What are they?? Thanks in advance for your time. I will consider all thoughts!

take your injection pump and trade the injector pre-cups in the head........that's the only difference. Well, besides the obvious like the intake manifold with EGR.

What are the injector pre-cups?? The bottom ends are the same??

I think he's referring to the 8 compression nipple/fittings on the pump(DS-4 shown).

the pre chambers in the cylinder heads........where the injector screws into, knock them out the bottom when you get the injectors out and the cylinder heads off.
