Just sometimes, when I make a left hand turn, I get a rubbing sound from the steering wheel itself. It doesn't do it all the time, but it drives me crazy when it happens. Does anyone else had this problem, or know what is causing it?

My '02 started doing the same thing lately. I just passed 36k miles and it just started. Don't know what causes it. I was tempted to ask the service guy to check it out, but it doesn't do it consistently and I know what would happen. They'd keep it a day and say it was OK.
I'm just watching it for now since it seems to be in the wheel itself.

Thanks chipper. I will check that. It looks like if that was the problem, it would do it more often. I only get the rubbing or scraping sound about once a day and only when I turn left, but thanks again for the hint, I will check that out.

mine does it, only turning left, from a stop. Sounds like something rubbing big time. I am researching it and will post info

TX-DMAX,
The bad news is it takes a qualified tech to replace the plastic because the airbag module must be removed to get the steering wheel off & the dealer I was at only had 1 tech in a crew of 5 that knew how. Took about 30-45 minutes.

I have the same issue. Just started within the past 3 or so months. I too have around 36000 miles on the truck http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif very interesting. From a stop, usually in a parking lot, I think turning right it will make a rubbing noise. If I turn it right back it does not do it and I have not been able to figure out how to do it at will.

I only have 5300 miles on mine, and am on occasion getting it too! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif It does seem to be from a stop, left turn only as well.
