: Bad Transgo Jr. install?

Ok, I started to hijack a different thread with this, but I thought it may be worthy of its own...

After my Transgo Jr. install, the shifts don't really seem any better. If anything they might have gotten a little worse. I didn't think much of it at first, but now that I listen to more guys on here, I'm a little worried.

The 1-2 , 2-3 and sometimes 3-4 shifts are all really smooth, but there isn't the positive shift and reduction in RPMs I'd expect. When driving nice and easy, the shifts are like stock, but even with the EVO on level 1, the shifts kind of all mush together. I know this is hard to describe, but hopefully you get the idea - under power there aren't the crisp shifts I'd expect after the kit install.

Any ideas if I did something wrong with the Transgo? I'd just take it to a good Allison shop if there were one close by, but Mike L. is in SoCal and I'm in the Bay Area.

I would reset the taps with a tech II or equivalent, and see if the shifts improve. The Allison has to learn the shifting.

The Allison will not shift with a tire chirping shift. At light throttle you probably will not even realize that there is a shift kit in the trans. I will shift firm under full throttle, but not the type of shift you are probably thinking about when you install a shift kit in an older transmission.

I would S--tcan the EVO. Put a PPE in the truck.

I'm beginning to think the same thing about the EVO. I loved the Juice/Attitude in my LB7, but this one just isn't the same...

I returned it to stock program and took off the EVO. It shifts great! I at least feel better that I didn't screw up the Transgo Jr. install. I guess it's the EVOs defuel (or not) settings that screw up the shifts. Looks like I'll be getting rid of the EVO and getting the PPE after all...

Do you have the latest programming downloaded? I was reading about it on another thread.

It may take some time if the TCM wasnt reset , It took my truck about 50 stops and starts to highway speeds to relearn how to shift. At part power it really didnt show any changes , put the power to it and it would over run every shift and slide into gear. If you drive it just like the direction say stops and starts and add more foot to it after it shifts better at 1/4 power go to 1/2 then 3/4 then do the same thing in tow/haul. Its going to take about 100 miles of stops and starts not highway driving to figure out how to shift.
