: screw it i am buying nitrous! help me !
datsbad 11-02-2004, 09:37 AM i keep sitting here thinking why not just buy the nitrous i know i going to sooner or later , so i need a little help . i was thinking of this TS performance kit . but i dont feel like dropping $1200 , but it comes complete i think , purge gauge etc... . can someone enlighten me on what to buy or not to buy . wiring does not bother me , but ease of instalation would be nice . how big of a shot will i need or whats safe i should say .
Micheal Tomac 11-02-2004, 10:18 AM get the NOS diesel kit jegs sells and add a bottle heater, purge and a bottle pressure gauge to it and save a bunch of $$$
nos kit:

bottle heater:

pressure gauge:

purge:

Using the biggest jet (55) that comes with the kit will be safe just don't use the nitrous below 1600-1800 rpm with the Quad and the Juice. Just turn your low boost fueling up with Attitude. Some programming that lacks fuel down low shouldn't be used below 1800-2000.Edited by: mtomac
datsbad 11-02-2004, 11:12 AM so if i am launching at 1600-1800 and i put it WOT , the nitrous will work . are you saying to not do it this way . or should i run just the quad and the nitrous ???
Micheal Tomac 11-02-2004, 11:50 AM There is an arming switch that has to be turned on first. Then I purge while the other guy is doing his burn out. I roll in slowly and activate the prestage then bring up the rpms to 1600-1800 (depending on track bite, jet I'm running, ect) and slowly ease off the brake to creep the truck forward to stage. When the 2nd yellow is going off I put it to the wood which activates the nitrous on a WOT switch and hang on. I launch this way at 1600-1800 rpm all the time with the quad and juice stacked.
Some other boxes stacked with the Quad don't have enough fueling down low when the nitrous comes on. The juice with low boost fueling turned off would also have this problem, but with low boost fueling turned up it is fine.Edited by: mtomac
datsbad 11-02-2004, 11:54 AM any thought on where to mount the bottle?
anyone with the powerfool by TS
Micheal Tomac 11-02-2004, 11:56 AM behind the rear seat in the crew cab on the passenger side where the 1/3 split is.
McRat 11-02-2004, 01:01 PM Keep in mind if you mount it inside the cab, NHRA rules will require an additional blow-off tube that exits outside the cab, that is not required if you mount it outside the cab.
BMDMAX 11-02-2004, 01:27 PM I mount mine in the bed. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif
Seriously, the bottle in the bed is a good solution for safety reasons.
I activate mine with a momentary switch for better control with the 2WD.
For easy jet installation the SuperDiesel manifold is hard to beat.
any thought on where to mount the bottle?

We run the Powerfool2 on our's.Very nice system easy install nice connectors performs well .NLDP
Micheal Tomac 11-02-2004, 01:38 PM i have a blowoff line out the rear cab vent as well as the feed line coming thru there
datsbad 11-02-2004, 01:57 PM i would like to see a pic of superdiesels manifold , any pics ?
ratlover 11-02-2004, 02:50 PM I have one and its very nice. I think between him and Guy they could machine you a Rolex outa a 1/2 case of empty coke cans.

Super Diesel 11-02-2004, 07:10 PM Some have problems with this but I mounted my bottle up under the passenger side of the bed in front of the wheel. I use a 15lb bottle but I have a long bed dooley as well. I have looked at others with short beds and concluded that only a 10lber would fit in theres. The Jegs kit is all you need. I can tell you how to modify it to get alot more power out of it latter if need be (with extra fueling of course). I use the singe shot set up my self. With the inline manifold, you can also plug in hobbs switches to activate the solinoid at a certain pressure and shut it off if it drops below that (you just flip the switch and the rest is on auto control, no need to take your hands off the wheel while under power to turn swiches on or off). It also has ports in it for propane, water/meth nozzles (if so desired) and boost gages, plus the N2O nozzle. Edited by: Super Diesel
Max Power 11-02-2004, 07:18 PM Super Diesel, did you ever get anywhere with the LLY manifold?
Super Diesel 11-03-2004, 12:13 AM The one I have is adaptable, but I will be building a custom one very soon.
dieselrcr337 11-19-2004, 01:51 AM I have not Tried mine at the track yet, but i will this weekend, i have no idea what size jet i need to run, i made a custom NOS kit out of a wet system we had for a car, i jsut got a bung welded to the intake, and ran the nos of a transbrake button, with a relay of course, and tips in jetting? i have hot xcelerator and enforcer stacked on an lly.

Micheal Tomac 11-19-2004, 01:22 PM What size jets do you have?
Start off small and work your way up till the smoke is gone.
The most I ever run is a .062 jet to clean up the smoke.
Don't hit the nitrous at too low of an rpm or it will put out the fire.Edited by: mtomac
dieselrcr337 11-19-2004, 03:34 PM i need to order some jets, i have a range from 82 - 120, i should probably need to get a smaller one, what RPM will be the best to hit the nitrous on? whats the worste that can happen if i hit it too soon, or run too much nos?
Trippin 11-19-2004, 05:46 PM I have one and its very nice. I think between him and Guy they could machine you a Rolex outa a 1/2 case of empty coke cans.

Micheal Tomac 11-21-2004, 12:17 PM I spray out of the hole leaving between 1600 and 1800 rpm but my stack has lots of fuel down low. Some programming and stack combos don't fuel enough down low so you might have to start spraying at a higher rpm.
dieselrcr337 12-22-2004, 02:08 AM i finally tested my truck, i take off at 22000 with cheater slicks, i spray as soon as the truck moved, i did try some jets ranging from 50's to 90's it liked the 82 the best, went from running 9.0 8.90's to 8.40s it ran high 13's in the 1/4 before now its in the high 12's

I assume 2200 rpm, 22000 is a little over red line:D
What box or stack are u using?

Did you run a 1/8th only pass or a full 1/4? An 8.4 run in our trucks normally won't dip you into the 12's, it is good for a 13.1 or 13.0 pass. If whatever tune or stack you are running really wakes up on the top end you might do it, what are you using?
Dmax Tim 12-22-2004, 10:27 AM The regular cab helps, Brandon.
Mike L. 12-22-2004, 03:41 PM Remember, you didn't hear it from me, but I heard Guy was going to build a bottle mount under the truck. It looks pretty good. One of our members has been running around with it for quite a while. :)

Kat, looks like Mike is gearing up for that run, the new tune must have him SKEERED ):h , and had to put laughing gas on.
Jeez, None of you guys are running hydrazine yet ? Guy? :)
Super Diesel 12-25-2004, 12:37 PM I don't believe any one would be able to stand the smell of running it. Plus it is poisonous and corrosive. It is a good fuel for jets and rockets however, so we can't rule anything out. Any one care to experiment? I'm up for hearing the results.
fredw 12-26-2004, 04:11 PM SD: are you the one making this

I am building a bottle mount for use under the truck. One of my holiday project goals. It is based on Mike L's original design with a little "Trippin" thrown in.:D
Just a reminder, the billet fuel pump pickups are based on Steve Cole's original design, with a little "Trippin" thrown in. :D
dieselrcr337 12-26-2004, 06:20 PM I am running a Xcelerator and the enforcer with the NOS, the truck does have a lot more top end then it does low end, the Regular cab does help with the top end it has a lot of pull in the top end, we did have a street car that had the same type acceleration, takes off slow, same type of 60ft times same 330 same 1/8 mile, ran high 12s, my truck also ran 13.90's in the quarter with 315's with an 1/8 mile of 9.09 9.10s, since i was in a bracket race i did not try to push it, at my local track the truck ran 8.90's, that truck has more top end must be becuase it is only 6300 pounds. so with what i gain with the nitrous it should run high 12s with the right tire
Mike L. 12-26-2004, 07:25 PM Those "TRIPPIN" throwins kick it up a notch " BAM" :ro) :D
