I'm thinking of retaining stock exhaust and either deleting muffler or maybe also the cat. Will this help EGT's? Also what will this sound like staightpiped with or without cat?

I've just ordered Predator and will be towing a 28' 5th wheel and I do not want to hurt the truck.

RickV, I am wondering the same thing. I just got my predator yesterday and am waiting on the fingerstick and blocker to come in before I cut out the cat and muffler. From what I've read it should lower it a little although not as much as going with a 4". I hope it sounds good and loud without too much drone on the HWY.

Removing the cat and muffler will certainly lower EGT's. You may want to check the legality of doing that in Indiana before you go ahead and do it...Also, the truck is gonna be ALOT louder with a straight pipe and considerably louder with no cat.

I've got 6 inch, no cat, no muff, and the interior drone is hellacious, but thats 6in. The d-max is a fairly loud engine exhaust wise, so straight through even stock will be fairly loud with a fair drone, before the 6in mine was stock no cat, with an Aero Turbine muff. Sounds very good too! Ill sell u the muff if ur interested! And it will help egt wise some and power too!

I've decided to leave it stock, I went to dealer and played dumb asking about removing the cat and he said VOID warrenty. Not sure maybe he meant CAT warrenty:) Also told me not to worry with EGT since the 08's had 1400' exiting the tailpipe and that's why they have the funky tip to allow air to draw thru it to cool so you don't get cooked walking by.. I may do it someday but it will be 4".

I removed the cat off my pickup, not wanting loud at all, I left the stock muffler. There is a very noticeable increase in throttle reponse.. the turbo is
singing at much lower rpms.. and out the tail pipe the sound is of air rushing.. Had several people say dang that thing moves alot of air... As far as your warrant goes I believe the dealers will tell you anything you do will void the warranty... Reprograming your computer would be just as likely to void your warranty.. But like any mods done keep the stock stuff, and if you have any dought put it back in stock config before taking it in..
