04 4WD with 49K miles. Sometimes, when making a gentle right turn in the 25 - 35 MPH range, the steering wheel feel like it "slips" or "jumps" further right and it feels almost like a tire is rolling over. You can feel the truck kinda of side-step when it happens.

I wish I could describe this better but it is unsettling when it happens and I can not make it do it consistentely.

Tires are 80% tread.

Anybody ?

My Dad's Avalanche had the same problem, it went away when we put more air in the tires, he was running at about 35 psi. When I put 45 psi in the tires it went away. Just my .02.

Possible broken sway bar end link? Not sure about the stepping out, but could definitly be part of the body roll.

I know what you are talking about - it feels like the steering is double-jointed or something, like someone's arm popping out of joint or something like that. My truck does it when I turn to the left really sharp and you can hear a dull pop or clunk when it happens - this is when I turn sharp to the left to stop and back into my driveway at around 10mph or less. I posted about it on here a while back and I think someone suggested it might be a worn idler arm.

I never looked into it further as I only drive my truck 16 miles a day (short drive to work :) ) and haven't put many miles on it at all since I posted that, but I am going to have to get down to it though. My truck needs idler and pitman arms I know.

Bad Ball Joints maybe???

I had a piece of crap Ford tempo about 12 years ago and the steering felt like that sometimes...Finally, I turned into my bumpy driveway one evening and the ball joint broke and dropped the front end of the car on the dirt:eek:

Just glad it didn't happen on the road...
