Hi Guys
I have tried to make a total reflash on a ECm for my truck, can it be done on a ECM with a different OS number?
I have swapped a total of three ECM control units now on my chevy, is there any way to re-use them? I have tried a total reflash on my other two ECM and that cant be done since the tune file is damaged inside the ECM
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi Lars,
I'm not sure if your using EFILive or not, or what type of ECM you are talking about, but if you are using EFILive on your LB7, then you can do a full flash of your ECM and change OS.
If you are talking about your LBZ, full flashing isn't an option because of the way the Bosch ECM works.

Lars,
It's very similar to a recalibration flash, only instead of clicking on the skinny red arrow you click on the fat red arrow. It will take about 3 times as long. Of course, you'll want to use another LB7 O.S :) .

Thanks for the help, but itīs not working.
I cant make full reflash since the tune inside the ECM is damaged, i have had som earlier problems with my ECM so i had to replace two of them at the dealership, they broke when i left my truck at the dealership without putting it back to stock tune again.
This time, i tried to adjust the speedometer to my oversized wheels with the help of a Diablo Predator, halfway thru installation i got the message error on my predator screen and the tune got damaged.
I have tried all three ECM that i have and none of them is working.
Yesterday i tried to change OS on the ECM i got from a salvageyard but i failed....

Perhaps there is something unique to your truck that is causing an interruption in the communication. Aftermarket stereo, alarm, remote start?
You could try removing the ECM from the truck and flashing the ECM using a bench harness.
