Does anyone have the Lund coldfront installed on their truck? How is it to install, any problems with the unit, any recommendations, ballpark price? I really don't want to install the factory bra/coldfront. It appears from some of the pictures that the Lund unit is being used by some on the forum. If there are other options for cold weather fronts for our trucks let me know and THANKS for any/all input!!

I just put a cloud rider (made by lund) stainless steel cold front on mine. It will cost you around $100. Easy to install and I think it looks pretty good. Make sure you get the one with the bumper covers as well.

If you want I can take a pic of my GMC with it on. I can't find any pics on the net.

Max Power thanks for your response. If it would not be too much trouble pictures would be great. Does it look like the one on Mav's truck? I saw some pictures of his truck on this site with a plow and some type of cold front installed. Appreciate the effort!!!

Max Power, where did you get the Lund Cold Front? I've searched all over the net and can't find a Cold Front to fit a 04 Sierra HD. I see you have a 03, which is the same as a 04, so any info you could provide would be appreciated.

I have the plastice screen front and cold front made by lund. Mine are in 6 pieces... It sucks to put on... You have to pull the plastic cover over the grill and use some funky mounting brackets to notch on the grill. Then, hope you are not off a hole....... I hate to put it on.... but it does not scratch anything and looks nice when its there....

Max are yours like that also.

I have the Lund Stainless Screen Front which is the same as the cold front except for the slots.

It clamps on with flat "S" hooks with black plastic capped screws.

There is one problem.... the attachment hardware rusts and locks up. Too bad they don't make that stuff out of stainless. Anybody installing one be sure to grease the hardware liberally.

Anyone who sells lund can get them. Most places that sell truck accessories, sell lund. Lund was very popular a few years ago. This is called the Cloud Rider winter front.

The stainless steel grill insert I bought for my cargo van, supposedly a genuine GM product, also has "Cloud Rider" etched into it. Hmmm..http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Pinch.gif

Gm has other people manufacture pretty much all of their accessories.

That is sure nice compared to my plastic... and its one piece, not six different ones.... Looks very nice.... I may have to see if they make the same for chevy...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

I just went to my local accessory dealer... this guy sells everything. He ended up calling Lund because it wasn't in his book. The Lund rep told him that they sell the stainless only in the screen front. They have the cold cover in black plastic.

I checked out cloud-rider.com and they list the stainless cold cover. They obviously make them since since Max Power has one. They must just not be in the states yet.

When I checked last year, there was only the plastic for the '03 Chevy so that's what I got. Haven't reinstalled it this season as the Tē's are still fairly mild. Hopefully the hardware is all ok to use again. Will look at spraying it this time around. It came off in the spring without any glitches.

I believe it's now available, p/n 87076 - at least that's what came up when I searched by Vehicle model...

I don't know why I thought that could rider was made by lund. I think that is not correct. Mine is definately a cloud rider and it doesn't look like its made by lund.

www.cloud-rider.com (http://www.cloud-rider.com) is the product I have.

I just put a screen over the rad and never had a SS screen front for mine this year. I was concerned about airflow. Now that I see how cool it runs and how little the fan runs I think I will go with the SS front. I am hoping that I can still leave the screen on there to catch whatever slips through but that might be too much restriction.

I must admit, I really don't see any difference with my winter front on there. Perhaps the factory cover would block a little more air. It is not really too cold here yet so I might see more of a difference in the colder weather.

Hoot,

I will tip my hat to that as well. This country was founded under God.

--- is there a cover like the Lund screen that can be covered fully when needed? One like Hoots with some "extra" holes for attatching solid pieces? Anybody? The cover is not fun and having the air 'blocked" all the time isn't a good thing for me. It would be nice to have working louvers like a big truck.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Burner,

I rigged my screen fron to accept my cold front in seconds.. or so... The part that sucks, is both fronts are in six pieces for the chevy so the first takes an hour or so to put on.... I drilled out the hand scres on the cold front so it fits over tight and then I put one coarse srew through the cold front into a hole in the screen front. The tric was getting the pefect place to have the screw so it did not rub on anything... They only stick out and 1/8th anyway.... This way i can go back and forth in a matter of 10 minutes.....

Burner,

I don't need to but you could put a piece of thin black plastic sheet behind the Lund screen in the winter. You wouldn't see it. Just punch holes where the "S" clamps go thru.Edited by: hoot

Just happened to see an ad in the paper for '04 Silverado's. There is a sport edition of the Z71 1500 that has the same front grill except it's in stainless so I presume you'd be able to order this from your dealer or GM parts or dmaxali...

Not a cold front but just thought I'd pass that along.

Just can't seem to open that cloud rider site. And yes, Max I could tell by the pictures that yours was an 03 but I didn't know if it was just a canuck thing that they are available up there. I still have not found a vender. And even if it was available though the dealer as an 04 option it will be 2-3 years before my dealer can find it. Meanwhile it is 14 degrees below zero this morning so I will have to go out and put the cover on cause I have to got to town today (120miles one way). So if anyone can locate an actuall place to purchase one from I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Steve

I sent Cloud Rider an e-mail on Monday asking them if they could let me know who in the US has it. I also explained to them that Lund says that they don't make it. No response so far.

I also sent a note to Mad Ram Truck Accessories (http://www.madram.ca). They were the only place I could find online that said they have it in stock. They replied with the prices and estimated shipping to get it across the border.

The price they quoted me for the grille cover, bumper covers, and shipping is $284.60 CDN = $214.10 US

The Cloud Rider part numbers are 25-244 for the grille cover and 25-245 for the set of two bumper covers.

They Cabelas do have the stainless grill screens but not the winter/cold fronts. The only cold fronts they have are a lot like the ones that come with the truckhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Unhappy.gif. Max if you can beat that price from cloud rider I would love to do business with a fellow member. PM me if you would like.
