Practically every truck GM has ever built has brake squeek along with the intermediate steering shaft clunk. I replaced factory pads with EBC Green's.....squeek has been gone for over 60,000 miles.

As long as the pads arent down to the squeelers, and the rotors are true dont worry abou tit.

I do my own brakes and when I put the pads on, I use the anti-squeak stickers supplied with the kit, but I also smear a very thin amount of blue RTV on any part of the brake pad that will be in contact with the caliper. (I use the old pad to see where all the contact points are.
I have only had a few issues with squeaky brakes doing it this way and that was because I was cheap and bought the cheapest pads out there. Spend a little more, get a better set of pads, do the RTV, haven't had a squeak since.
Steering clunk is normal? My dads 83 GMC van does it occasionally and my 93 dually does it a LOT! What causes this clunk? I haven't been able to pin point it down to anything yet except I know that it is in the front and it is on the drivers side.
