Hi Guys, has anyone done a 06 LBZ rad / fan swap on a 05 LLY ?

I have a complete 06 2500HD I'm going to part out, the rad appears to be deeper than the 05 LLY, the radiator support is also different, it has a lower saddle for the deeper rad.

I was thinking of doing the swap since my truck is apart. If it will all fit this should take care of any heating issues

I have adapted the fan but not the radiatior. The rad is 4 inches taller, the width is the same.

It will fit, you will need the complete radiator core support, the 06 rad, the 06 shroud, the 06 hoses, and all of the 06 fan parts which includes the fan cage and the three support brackets, one of which is the oil fill tube. You will also need the 06 fan pulley as it is a different depth than the previous year models and must be used with the 06 fan clutch and fan.

I am unsure if the spread of the tranny lines for the rad tank cooler is the same, it is possible you will need the lines from the allison. May as well go with the 06 tranny cooler anyway, so get the POS flap too while you are there.

I am also not so sure that the 06 rad will bolt right up to the earlier intercooler, it might and probably will, but you will have to see that for yourself.

The TCM is different and mounts up differently so either go with the 06 TCM or you will have to make a mount for your older TCM.

Thats all I can think of right now just running from memory real quickly.. . . .. :)
