Do I need one, and if so, what brand do you all run?

After 34 views I still have no answer. Do we need a fuel pressure gauge for the Duramax Diesel. Darn people this place is high tech, but cant answer a simple fuel question? Not trying to be rude but come on?!!!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley7.gif

Well, I don't think you need one. Not sure what benefit it would be since the pressure the motor is interested in is at the rail and that's something like 26,000psi which isn't something that any fuel pressure gauge I've seen can handle.Edited by: WAskier

Hired Gun,

Here's the one I used. It's an Autometer Z series (#2661) and uses an electrical sending unit. Cost me $190 shipped.

I'm going to use a cheapy mechanical and temporarily run it into my cab for my lift pump testing. Dont run fuel into your cockpit, its a bad idea and recipe for disaster. Might ducttape it on the hood or wiper blade or mirror or something. After I do my lift pump testing I see no need to have a fule pressure gauge so off it will come. JMO

If you want to know what rail pressure is then use a tech 2 or snappon scanner or the like. if you want to moitor the pressure between the tank and the motor for a lift pump then the above or anything will work. if your going to make it permanent though dont run fuel into your cab!

No lift pump no need IMO. And if you wonder if you need a lift pump no droppy in rail pressure no need for a pump IMO.
