: Supertank Update
acehi 11-01-2004, 03:09 AM I have the start this out by saying thanks to all the inputs and PM's I have received before I installed my 75 gal. supertank. I also installed the larger filler neck at the same time. It took me about 5 1/2 hours to get it all done. I did it by myself, would recommend it, and I didn't have access to a lift so I jacked the truck up onto jackstands, another pain in the *%*^% rolling around on a creeper. It was comfortable and it did help holding the tank up with my knees and extra jackstands as I bolted things down. All my fittings fit properly and snug. I also did bypass a step on the install. Step #1, remove driveshaft... I didn't and it went up fine.
I had about 7 gallons of fuel in my old tank so I pumped it into my new tank. Before I did this I actually got to see everything in my old tank. There was 5 little drops of water in the tank, and I mean little drops. I held it up on end and looked at everything in one corner and it was clean. I was very impressed, especially with over 60k miles on it.
I drove to the gas station, added my additive, and started pumping fuel. I wasn't at a gas station that had the larger nozzle available to test it, but I already found a BIG problem with having this 75 gallon tank....... I HATE IT WHEN THE PUMPS SHUT OFF AT $50... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gif I had to swipe my credit card not once, but twice and almost a 3rd time. I hope the big boy pumps don't have $50 limits. Other then that, no problems noted. I will be keeping an eye on things and if I notice any other problems I will post them

dmaxalliTech 11-01-2004, 08:49 AM I just found that 50.00 limit thing my last fillup, what a pain in the arse.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley7.gif
Dmax Tim 11-01-2004, 09:36 AM Some places here have $50 and other $75 http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif
02dmax 11-01-2004, 11:37 AM Jeff,
Glad to hear everything went well, no problems. Supertanks has
been great to deal with and their product is top notch. You will
really like the extra capacity. Be sure to let us know how the
larger fill neck works with the large tank. I haven't encountered
a truck stop with the $50 cutoff but that doesn't mean they aren't out
there. Most of the gas stations seem to cutout, a real pain and with
the way prices are running a ongoing one at that.
Enjoy,
Michael
Brad97 11-01-2004, 12:43 PM Give your credit card to the attendant inside. They will usually set no limit on the pump.
acehi 11-02-2004, 01:05 AM Well, I have gone 100 miles now and my gas gauge is still pegged over "F". Normally it would be just setting on "F". I am curious as to how many miles I get before the needle starts moving. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif I did notice that when I pumped in that fuel from my old tank so I could prime the system and make it to the gas station, my gas gauge was all over from "E" to 1/4 tank. Is that normal with about 7 - 10 gallons in the tank?

keepin' it 11-05-2004, 10:27 PM Looks like we're gonna live with the 50$ fill limit until someone gets their head out of their arse. I'm using the commercial pumps (big wait after big rigs). I'm gonna start topping at a quarter tank. Not convenient, but all things considered, better to have a full tank (cooler fuel delivery, etc.). Ain't gonna get better. Arabs selling oil to China and telling the DUB to suck hind tit.
3500dmax 11-06-2004, 12:53 AM The $50 limit can be a pain but if it helps cut down on fraud it's not that big of a deal. As someone else mentioned give the attendant your card and they can override the limit.
Mylash 11-07-2004, 07:08 PM I usually fill up at Flying J Travel Centers, in the RV isle.. I have
not found one with a $50 limit, and the frequent fueler card gives me
1.5 to 2.5 cents per gallon discount.
I need to get a much bigger tank in my truck though, a 40 gallon tank in a truck getting 9.4 av mpg is no use at all.

acehi 11-09-2004, 02:01 AM Ok, let me try again. I have been trying to upload some pics of what I will be hauling from Alaska to California in 2 weeks. Hopefully they show up.

acehi 11-09-2004, 02:21 AM Heading to Travis Air Force Base, between San Francisco and Sacramento. I am not looking forward to moving there but I have no choice. I want to stay here in Alaska. One good thing, I only have 3 1/2 years left then I retire and they will send me back. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif
