: What weight distrubiting hitch???
BLUE72CAMARO 07-27-2007, 09:03 AM Well I bought a 28ft American Hauler enclosed last night. It doesnt have any weight distribution or sway control on it. Here is a couple pics of it.

So who makes a good weight distribution hitch that will fit on 8" frame rails? Also what is the best sway control setup, the old friction ones or the new cam style, or something that I havent seen yet?
Thanks,
Matt

twinbubba 08-02-2007, 01:36 PM I tow a Weekend Warrior 23' toy hauler and I use the Reese Dual Cam HP weight distribution/sway controll and love it.

When I was doing toy hauler research, I read too many bad things about friction sway control.

I've used the 501-800 pound assembly from Valley Industries for almost 20 years on two different 24-foot race car trailers (my current Haulmark and a Pace). I used to use the friction-type sway control on the Pace, but I found it restricted the trailer manuevering a bit in tight spaces. These days, I just make sure I have adequate tongue weight and the trailer doesn't sway.
You can't go wrong with the options listed by the other members in your thread.
Rockin C Racing 08-02-2007, 03:45 PM I use the round bar weight distribution (801-1200) and use the standard friction sway control on my 24" race trailer. I've been using it for 6 years and never had a problem.

I try to buy local so I got it from my local RV shop!
I have 4 all together on various GMC's. We pull heavy trailers all over 12ooo lbs.

And you don't need the anti-sway with this set up. A friend of mine bent the friction sway bar backing up a TT one evening.
twinbubba 08-02-2007, 06:40 PM MGlickLBZ, that is one of the things I read about friction bars, you have to disconnect them before you can back up or you will bend them.

dmax650tq 08-02-2007, 09:21 PM Another vote for the Reese Dual Cam HP weight distribution/sway control. Easy to set-up and great on the road.

I bought one of these because my 28 foot trailer was all over the road when passed by semi's last time I took a long trip. I am 100% impressed with its performance. I hear the hensley setup is the best but it was 10 times the money and this one I have very nice and balanced ride and no sway anymore.. great product.
RayMich 08-03-2007, 08:52 AM A lot of full-time RVer's towing heavy travel trailers swear by the Hensley Arrow (http://www.hensleymfg.com/whatisthearrow.html). It's a little pricey though.
DURAMAX3500 08-04-2007, 01:09 AM i use the husky with 2 sway bars
BLUE72CAMARO 08-06-2007, 09:58 AM Well I put the 12k equal-i-zer on Friday, what a difference that made.
