: Towing with the Juice\attitude

Well, I just towed my 36' 5th wheel on a trip this weekend with the Juice\edge. First off, I called EDGE and asked them could I tow a 13,000 lb. trailer with my Duramax in level two. They put a tech on the phone and he said sure, just watch your EGT's. So I got into my rig and I set off. Well I sure could tell a difference with the edge. My rig pulled hills much more easily. Even on the steep hills the EGT's never went over 1,245 degress and then it was only for a second or two. I noticed that when I used tow-haul and over drive by pass, the egt's were lowered by an average of 100 degrees. Only on flat or downhill road did I go into overdrive. When you make the turbo work more than the engine then the EGT's go up, when you use gearing hence the engine more and less turbo, your EGT's were lower. I averaged just over 10 MPG, which I am pretty happy with. All in all the juice was worth the money and the attitude to monitor the EGT's gave me peace of mind. I hope this helps for anyone thinking of the Juice\attitude.Edited by: vegasdude

Thanks vegasdude,

I have a 13k 5th wheel and thought I shouldn't use any chips, boxes, or programmers from what I have read. I think the more I hear about people towing w/these will greatly influence my decision.

I tow a ~8,000 lb travel trailer with the Juice set on #2 without problems. Yes, I can tell a difference in both performance and mileage - one is up, the other is down.

Mileage is not adversly affected when I'm not towing, and I do try to keep my foot out of the throttle.

I am very impressed with the performance of the edge product. After reading soooo many forums, I decided to install the juice but no attitude. I have yet to read someone driving with common sense to have a problem with EGT. I have found no difference in the mileage when not towing anything with the juice @ level 1. I do seem to use a little more fuel when I am towing with the juice @ level 1. Top end speed when not towing is 70 mph. Top end speed when towing is 65 mph.

I tow my 10k 5er in level 4 (120hp) and my EGTs are around 1200. Going up steep grades my rig will downshift and my temps go up to 1300. I will change into level 2 and my temps back down. I will always tow with the edge. GREAT product.
