Hey all, I have been asking about the reflash and so have many other people I noticed. From what I can see on this forum and from what people are telling me privately..it seems that the Chevy Duramax's are the ones that are getting the latest updates and the GMC Duramax's are not. These are the exact same engines are they not?

I have gone to my GMC dealer and told there was no update even when I provided him with the internal number and also went in with valid issues....now it is surging as well. Friend took his Chevy Durumax to a Chevy dealer here in town for the surging.. flashed and updated his. he says it does not surge anymore.

How many of you have GMC's and have had no problem getting the latest update?

How about Chevy?

bogus. Same update for both. I have done plenty of GMC's and Chevy's. Dealers are the ones that are not updated...

Well the GMC dealers don't sell as many trucks as the Chevy dealers. Perhaps thats why.

interesting..thought I would share this.. I called the Chevy dealer and yes he has updated several Duramax's with this code but he cannot do GMC's.. GM will not pay them or something SO I am looking for another GMC dealer to go to and am left with only one so I will let you know.

also, my truck has now started to show the low rpm surging as well

I had mine re-flashed at the GMC dealer a month ago. Two days ago it started missing at idle again and surges at 70mph on highway. Need to take it again.

My GMC dealer did the re-flash on my 04 LLY when I took it in for a leaky axel seal. It seems to have lost power after it was done. Anybody else noticed this?

Same thing happened with mine. Two new injectors later it seems to be doing good.

I talked to another GMC dealer here in town over the phone..told him the issues I was seeing and even gave him the PIP number.. he called me back and said there is in fact an update for it.

The first GMC dealer was blowing smoke up..you know where.

Got my re-flash done last month. I had to take a copy of the TSB I printed from this forum into the SM before he 'KNEW' what I was talking about. "Oh, that update."

What I've noticed since then, I can't see the surge in the tach, I can't feel the surge in engine, BUT, now it seems I can hear a surge. That don't make sense even, but it runs fine.

I am messing with my local dealer on this currently. They are acting ignorant. Can anyone send me the TSB info? I would like to put this to bed quickly. Thanks in advance for your help!

Don't know how to make the point-and-click thingy, so here's where I found it: Do a search on 'surge' over 200 responses. Go back to 12 Sept 04, topic is: Anyone know anything about this?' The tread was started by LanduytG. It is in the Second Generation LLY forum. That is the page I printed and brought to my dealer.

Hope this helps you.

P.S. Another way I found it: Open up this 2nd Generation forum to show the last two months. Somewhere around page 19 or 20, you will see the post dated 14 Sept 04.Edited by: Mike_in_Wisc
