I just noticed the other day that when I get on the throttle, medium to hard, I hear something clattering. Its definitely coming from the motor. Imagine the clatter you hear when the engine is running, but the moment you get on the throttle, speed that sound up really fast. It almost sounds like a gear grinding. Does anyone know what this could be?

Truck doing anything else? Does the turbo spool up and have you noticed decrease in power or acceleration (response) of the truck? Injector clatter? How many miles are on your truck? Turbo bearings maybe, do you have a boost gauge?

Anything else as in? Yes, the turbo does spool up. I haven't noticed anythinhg, but its probably hard to tell. 18k miles. Yes, mechanical Autometer C2 boost guage.

It will make the noise if I get into the throttle whether I stay in it or just long enough for the turbo to spool up, make boost, then I let off. Either way, it makes that clattering/grinding noise.

since you only have 18K miles on it, drop it off to the stealer and tell them to fix it. No sweat.

I would still like to figure out what's wrong with it. I don't have any other means of transportation, other than my bike, but its been raining left and right over here. Plus I'm trying to sell it and I don't want to put any miles on it.

I know its under warranty and that I don't have to worry about it, but I don't see it that way. I want to know just in case it ever happens again. Plus, if its an easy fix, I'll do it myself rather than going to through the trouble of taking it in.

Well that was my next suggestion, just take it to the dealer and let them fix it under warranty. Most likely something that tech will need to look at, diagnose and fix.

If there is indeed something wrong, have you seen my sig. lately? I don't want to be denied warranty because of all the add-ons.

I would like to AT LEAST figure out what is wrong, by you guys providing me with ideas, before I take the time to drop it off at the dealer.

I have too much money for some carless porter or mechanic to mistreat my truck. I'm very anal about it and just want to ensure that its babied. The 2 times that I took it in, I stood right there while they did repairs.

I have another issue at hand as well, but I feel this is probably more critical. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Again, the ticking/knocking sound that a diesel engine makes, when you get on the throttle, imagine that same sound "fast forwarded."

Does it do it stock or with a program in it? I'd put it back to stock and see if it goes away.

I don't know, but I will definitely give it a try. Thanks for the tip.
