My wife just got home with my 2002 Duramax from a day in town and there's fuel/oil all over the tailgate, sides and everywhere underneath the truck.
I started it back up and the oil pressure is only about 20PSI http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gif
I have always kept up the PM on this vehicle wich by the way has only 55K miles on it. Whats going on???
Please help me arm myself before the trip to the dealer!

fuel in oil. Do a search of the forums for that and you'll find the likely culprits. Edited by: Hound

Yeah I just pulled the dip stick and it looks pretty clean and it also smells like diesel.
What about all the fuel/oil thats all over the truck? Does anyone know where all that mess came from?

It is from the crank case vent tube at the front of the engine. The crank case gets overfilled with 10qts of oil plus whatever additional diesel that has been dumped in by the injectors, at least thats my guess, probably a failed injector. With way too many quarts of fluid in the crank case it'll vent it right out the vent tube on the front of the engine. Edited by: Hound

Thanks Hound
That all makes good sense. After doing some more searching around on the net and checking out previous posts on this website your right it does appear to be the injector issue.
Other than this injector problem the truck has performed flawlessly. If the dealer here doesn't piss me off about fixing this mess I may just go ahead and trade up for the 2004 LLY.
I'll post back with the dealer visit news on Monday eve.

I wish I had oil pressure that high (20) cuz I only got 14 psi.

Bummer about your injectors.

Read the post that says thinned out oil tears the motor up.

That's why my wife isn't allowed to drive my truck you know the saying "Women or wheels either ones bound to give you troubles at one time or another" it has to be injectors leaking into crankcase from my readings here they fail by the injector body cracking or high fuel return to tank mine failed at 61000 miles on my 01 and had a high return rate.I'm looking into installing a cat post filter to hopefully protect the ball seat in the injectors.Who knows it might be a waste of time and money$ Good Luck

Could be the injector lines, this happened on the 01 company truck about 5k miles after a complete set of injectors. They said the lines were corroded where they go into the injector. It also filled the pan full of fuel

My wife's response to unusual engine noise is to turn up the
radio. I make it a habit of driving all the vehicles on a
regular basis just to check them out.
