Are polypropylene fittings OK to use in diesel fuel lines?

Jim? JD? Bueller?

Yes or no will suffice.

I have no practical experience using polypropelene fittings but I would be concerned about breakage from heat and diesel over time. I am however using a urethane clear hose for fuel line and have not had any issues in 6k miles. Of course now that I said that the lines will surely rupture.

Heat will not be an issue, as I would be using them to tee in parallel lift pumps.

I am more concerned with material breakdown after prolonged exposure to diesel fuel. The polypropylene fittings I intend to use are manufactured for crop sprayers (herbicides, pesticides, etc...) The local farm store didn't have anything else available.

For those of you who have modified the fuel lines near the lift pump... what types of fittings did you use?

I used stainless fittings because they were available - steel is good, copper\brass not so good, imo........ plastic? I think I'd steer clear of that due to vibration, etc - any crack would be disastrous in pressurized fuel line - try wwgrainger for mailorder stuff - swagelok is good - whitey - etc.

Try some sources available to p.e.'s
