My 05 Top Kick came w/out the trans temp gauge. I purchased one from my local dealer. Behind the cut out there is a harness for it which seems to work due to the lights coming on when plugged in, but the needle does not move. Maybe it's not getting hot enough or do I need to add the sensor for it? Does the same sensor for the computer also control the gauge? If I need to add the sensor, where does it go? The dealership couldn't help me. Thanks Edited by: arcalaska

You will not see much movement until you start working the tranny. if you are just cruising, not much heat is built.

Has your needle moved yet, or did you find out anything else - I am
going to get a transmission temp guage for the next spend spree..
Then a Pyro guage,, the list goes on.

mine very rarely moves (and even when it does it barely moves)...factory guage here...only moves a bit under load in hot conditions. I'm really impressed with the Allison tranny. no problems in 85,000 miles

Thanks Bogie, mine hasn't moved yet, it's pretty cool here right now and never gets "hot".
