I have been doing a lot of reading on here in the last few days regarding tire size and fitment including noting the GM bulletin that ticked everyone off. Not surprisingly, most of hte modded trucks are Classics or older while there are only a few 2007.5 MY trucks with new tires. Also, MOst of those Lmms that are modded appear to also have a lift.

I am about to order an 08 3500 SRW ltz and want to make new tires/wheels (maybe) a part of the deal with the dealer. I am not a fan of the pizza cutters that come on the truck and so want to go wider. I have no interest in lifting the vehicle but would rather keep it in the OEM position. I need this vehicle to pull my jeeps and see no reason for it to be lifted especially with all the inherent issues surrounding lifting IFS vehicles.

THat said, I would like a wider wheel while maintaining the OEM diameter. My druthers is to have a setup that will be flush with the wheel opening. By this I mean that if you drop a plumb bob from the center of hte wheel opening with the bob string on the outside of hte fender, the sidewall of hte tire would just touch the string. Seems to me that a 305 /60 mathematically works on 18s.

I would be most grateful if someone can provide commentary and pics on achieving this goal. TY

42,000+ members and nobody has accomplished what I described? I just need pics and specs on what you did...LMM no lift no trimming and a bit wider overall. THanks!

If you order an LTZ it will have 17 inch wheels on it. I can't find a company that makes a 305/60 tire.

BFG makes an AT KO in a 305/65R17. It is a 32.7 overall Diameter tire. The stock duravis tires are 31.7 OD so they might fit on stock wheels with some torsion bar crank.

Thanks for your reply. I am not looking to put these on stock wheels particularly. I think a 12 inch wide tread with a likely section width of about 13-13.5 is wide enough to crown and lose stability on a 7.5 inch wheel. I think I will need in the 9 inch range to achieve my goal but as you will undoubtedly recognize, backdimension, offset, and tire size all play together to put the outside surface of the tire in a particular place.

Still hoping someone has pics and specs of thiers without lift or Tbar crank. TY
