I have a problem I need help with... Now all of the suddent my lights on the back of my truck are not working. I will start with my wife had the truck today everything worked great. It started raining real hard so bad she had to pull over to the side of the road until it slowed and she could see again. She stopped shut the truck off get back in and truck acted wierd.

1. Reverse lights constantly on.
2. Brake lights on
3. blinker does not work it makes a buzzing noise when used.

I have disconnected the lights from the junction box on the back of the frame just to turn them off. Blinkers work now on front but flash fast because of no rear tail lights....

I assume the rain caused this because truck worked fine before it rained real hard...

Please help

TIA...

Here is an update. Last night I pulled the connector on the back of the truck and all the lights went off. I got up this morning and my 3rd brake light was lit.. I have not reconnected my taillights to the junction box. I have no Idea why my lights are on....

I also noticed my trailer brake controller light up like I was connected to a trailer. I unplugged the controller from the box under the dash but that did not change anything...

Alright I have narrowed it down. If I disconnect the drivers side light connector from the junction box everything works. If I reconnect it everything works for a few seconds and then the back up lights come on. If I leave it disconnected everything else works...

Any Ideas??????

I would pull the tail lamp apart, the older trucks had problems with the circuit board on the back due to corrosion. I suspect that is the problem on your truck also.

Sounds like leakage current due to corrosion or moisture incursion into your connectors/sockets. Try the good old Red Green remedy and spray some WD-40 in these areas. :anitoof:
Do you have any after market lights such as LED's etc. My LED light bar screwed up my system after moisture entered the bar and corrosion set in.

Chasing electrical ghosts can be a PITA...Good Luck

Well I have gone farther and narrowed it down to back up lights on all the time. I pulled both B/U bulbs and plugged everything back in all my stop and turn lights work fine. I know the back up are still hot, I checked the socket and they are still getting 12v. I guess Saturday me and my volt meter will be getting intimate with the harness....

I always use a test light, it is more accurate than a meter and a meter cannot load test a wire. I also make a test light out of a tail lamp socket that uses both elements in the bulb for better load testing. Good luck.

Well here is an update for anyone else with a problem like this. I was able to finally get my lights working with the exception of my back up lights. I waited about a week and plugged in the back up light bulbs and fuse and everything is working great. I have a feeling the rain and water is what screwed up my truck....
