While getting my truck serviced the dealer told me he had a blown up
dmax. The guy had a 6gun and was 4 wheelin it. He bent 2 push rods and
broke something else internally.

Thats what the dealer told me........

Actually, upon further investigation, they found that it wasn't the 6 gun's fault, but the fact that he was running a UNI filter in it

Yeah bent pushrods just happen for no reason. I stand corrected.

Just my $0.02 but I don't think it was the fault of the Banks six gun as much as the way it was probably being driven. You said it broke while offroading? I'd bet that the engine got rev'd high, way high, for too long and that's what blew the pushrods.

I don't believe Banks would allow over reving in their program. Never have before. You guys are shooting the messinger and that's wrong. Why did you not pick on the stupid service person at the dealer? We can still make this post informative if we cut the bs. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

Did it have a manual trans?

You can do a number on the rods of diesels if you lug them too much...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley13.gif

I'm with Mike. And no, it's not because I own the 6-Gun.

Mike - your right on, the tuner is not going to cause problems with push rods. With a factory redline of 4800 the push rods should give stout service. I've heard of exhaust brakes causing problems under certain conditions, but .....good call on the bs.

sdaver - in this case I think it's the tuner tech at the dealership .......stacked with incompetencehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif
