2006 Chevy 2500HD Duramax

8" Fabtech lift with Dual dirt logic front shocks.
Upgraded tie rods.
38" Kumho M/T on 24" Akuza wheels.
4" stainless exhaust to the 5" stacks
Precission fat billet grille.
Bushwacker fender flares
Diamond plate tool box and bed rail.

What are the advantages and disadvantages to this suspension/wheel combo.. Would it rub??

Fabtech would not be my first choice due to there steering angles on the 8". But I do really like those stacks:D

Nice truck, the wheels are too blingy for me though, just my opinion.

Who would you recommend for the lift. Do you think it would rub? It looks left turns would be a problem.

I agree with the wheel statement. I'm not a big wheel fan. It does look like though that he has trimmed the bumper and lower valance to clear the tires so I would think that it shouldnt rub anymore.

I would go with a Cognito 10-12 kit. We did this that just came out in the new Truckin Mag this month :D .

It was not cranked up so the ride was killer !!!

That truck is on ebay for sale. I don't think that it will rub like it sits. I have the 7-9" Cognito and my 37's are no where close to rubbing and they are true to size. I'm not sure if Kumho's run true or not. You thinking about buying that truck?

It is not my truck
I was thinking about buying it.
I might just wait until about November and build my own.

That truck Nor-Cal Nick is nice but alittle 2 big for my taste. I live in NYC.

Who would you recommend for 8 inch setup like in the picture.

Swampfox has a Cognito set about 9" I think and running 37's. The thing you need to look at is everyone is a little different on whats ok or "fitting/rubbing". Some guys are OK with some trimming and rubbing. Look at what you would be OK with because if you don't leave room for yourself to play on what kit you buy you could be a guy that buys a bigger kit because you don't like the first choice. Also on any kit that starts at a lets say 6" and then is cranked up higher will ride worse because it is taken out of working spec.

So don't under cut it and look at what all others are running and how they are set. Leave your self room to play (up/down) and you will be happy.

Here's another truck with 38's that we could of run lower but we set it at this stance. Cognito 10-12" set @ 11"

The Cognito 7-9 kit. Is it better to run that instead of the Fabtech 8 setup?

I looked at some setups and 9 is high. 8 seems perfect. 7 might be 2 low for 24/38's

The streeting angles on the fabtech 8 that you mentioned. Can you explain and is there a way to fix/upgrade?

The tie rods move at a different rate over the control arms. So you get the tires applying alot of stress to the pitman and idlers. This is on there 8" kit. The 6" is not as bad but there are kits that will help for the long run on your steering components.

When you take kits and max them out of working range you increase angles. Ball joints, tie rods wear out faster and the tie rods push and pull on the idler and pitman more to wear those out faster. Also when maxed out you top out the front upper control arm faster so it fills like its been limited. UCA makes a metal to metal feel when going over a speed bump or just driving down the high way.

This is a stock truck with no lift but it should give you a idea what I'm talking about.

With you lift installed on the ground you want your working angles to look like this.

So should I go with the Cognito 7-9 setup and run it at 8.

If I decide to get the Fabtech 8 kit. What do you recommend upgrading.

Sorry for all these questions. Im new to this..(Came from SN95 mustangs(94-98)..

With either kit.. What parts are recommended to be upgraded.

Well if you are OK with smaller tires and wheels then I would say the Cognito 8" would look and feel great going down the road. Here is a truck that was in Diesel World a few months back that we did for a guy that pulled his drag race boat with, lots of road time and wanted as best as possible look with ride.

Here is a link with more pic's of it:

Also here is another big timer:D we just did a truck for:

Also ... if your not a guy for the spindle kits then we also have CST that is the best UCA drop kit on the market. Here is what both kits look like next to each other...

http://www.norcaltruck.com/cognito-7-9/58.jpg

Notice how far both tire combos stick out ... about the same ,not hole lot difference.
Also look at the CV angles against the hight stance from each other ...
