I have a 93, 3500 chevy 6.5 diesel.I just replaced the batteries and fuel filter and primed the filter. When I start the engine up it runs fine, and drive it around for awhile. When engine is at normal temp. and you shut it off for 30 minutes or so and try to start the engine it turns over but doesn't fire.If you pump the fuel peddle then it starts up.Does this seem normal.http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

Sounds like ESO Solenoid might be hanging. If your up to the task, remove the top cover, go to a fuel shop and either buy one and install it yourself or have them install a new Solenoid in the top cover for you.

I just seen a posting earlier about this problem.I have a 93 6.5 chevy truck with only 68,000 original miles on it.I'm new to the diesels and hope this is a easy cheap fix.

If pumping the pedal makes it start, then hopefully it will, are you running any sort of fuel lubricity additive? This would certainly help unstick whatever is sticking up on you.

I own 92' 6.5 that had the same problem. check the lift pump, probably not working. replace it and the problem is solved..

This weekend I have chance to check these problems.I like to know if there is a way to know if it's bad and if you can check it before buying anything.

you can hear the liftpump running. you said you bleed the fuel system. you have to have pressure to do that.

Is the lift pump located under the driver side by the frame? Someone said there is a pump there.I'm checking to see if this is the right one.

That's it. Jump the fuel pump relay harness orange to gray wire for under hood priming of the fuel system.

I did the orange n grey wire and had no noise at the lift pump. What is a average price for this pump ?

~$100 but I bet you could beat that if you call around.
