Well, the 500 I paid for a new computer in my truck paid off this weekend! My transmission was not pegged on high all the time! Here was my weekend.
Friday I hauled my brother-in-law's 856 international from one farm to another. That tractor still makes the 454 grunt. It has an allied loader on the front of it to. But the truck still managed to hit OD at 60 MPH with that load. And it did it fairly well. I still find it amazing the the heat is actually higher if the truck stays out of OD then if it goes into OD.
Saturday I went to the 1/8 mile drags. Not knowing anything about the race, we showed up a little later and I drove my Cutlass just to stretch its legs some. I was very disappointed to find that it was a "Run what ya Brung" race. Since we were late, I didn't have time to get my Cutlass inspected and entered. I have always been curious to see what it will do on the stip.
But we had fun. Watched some old street rods and that was great! But HOT! We left around 1ish because of the heat.
Sunday was even hotter and that is the day the dually really worked. We hauled hay all day with it. We were hauling loads of 14 bales. Temp was hovering around 95 all day. Christine (my dually) never flinched. Even with slow ditch driving, lots of snorting going up the approaches with 14 bales on the trailer, and everything else she just beared down and went. Transmission was running around 220 to 240 at the hottest. (keep in mind this temp is taken right after the torque converter) Engine got up to maybe 230 or so at its hottest. But man did she move the bales. I am impressed with her. For being a gasser, it has some grunt.
Here are the pics.
