Installed new fuel filter on D-Max 2004, LB7 engine at 9,000 miles. After priming new filter engine started ok. http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif Let engine set for 30 minutes and restarted ok. http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif No sign of any leakage. http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif
Question, I noticed diesel fuel on concrete floor back of engine. Two spots off the back of both the left and right banks. Is this normal? I have not noticed any reoccurance. Need to fine a cutter before I can open up original filter for inspection.

Some spillage may have occured. Odd that it is dripping off both sides. Keep an eye on it and see if it continues.

No spillage when changing fuel filter. This happen after air bleed of new filter, I closed bleed port then pumped until I had frimness on pump button. DMAX in drive way with slight slope. Slope is Possible cause of fuel dropping from back of engine left & right sides.
Has anyone else noticed this occurance?

Let truck set for 24 hours before starting. Started ok.
At 9000 miles filter was dirty compared to others I have seen on this site. No signs of Rust in canister. Any opinions? See Picture:

I thought that filter looks pretty good for 9K. I let mine go to 15K this last change and what a mistake, lot of water and rust, filter almost black to top. The sad thing is that I have a NickTane sitting in the box waiting for time to install.

Thanks for the comparison on the fuel filter. They look very similar.
Any ideas on why the diesel fuel coming off both sides of the engine?
I pumped the filter button until firm. Is there a pressure relief around injectors that may have caused the spillage?
