Has anyone used intake gasket off of the one tone 6.5 to block the EGR at the intake. Is there anyhting else that should be done to prevent a SES code for the EGR. I do not want to do all this and have it go to limp mode becasue the EGR is not functioning. LEt me know if oyu have and how it is working.

The gasket kit is the same for "F" and "S". If the set you get is closed at the egr flow through (which is something I haven't seen yet for the 6.5) the exhaust gas will burn through to allow EGR function. You didn't say what year you have, but before I converted to a modified "F" intake setup on my '95 Tahoe I just pulled the vacuum line from the EGR and plugged the line, I never got an SES and I ran that way for almost a year. If you really want to keep your "S" intake and eliminate the negative affects of the EGR a local weld shop can close the ports on the manifold for about $20. Have fun!! I think removing the EGR system from my engine was one of the best mods I've done for it longevity.

I never thought about it burning through the gasket. I know that going to the other manifold would be better, but I am in a time pinch. I think I will go as is and block the line like you said. Or is there anyone who has had luck doing this. How is your stuff from A1, I took mine all off!! Was not happy with it. Let me know. Thanks.

when i had my 97 tahoe 6.5td, i disabled the egr system with a solid aluminum plate gasket under the egr valve. no gasses bypassing there... it did throw a MIL on the dasy, and drove it like that for 2 years, until i needed to get an emission test done, then i took the dash apart and removed the bulb for the MIL. easy fix.

I've blocked many 6.2/6.5 EGRs using just the manifold gasket and never seen/heard of anyone burning through the plate. Keep in mind Sweetner that your EGR codes are probably being set by a vacuum leak somewhere. If you want a really quick fix, then simply plug the line to the EGR to keep it from opening, make sure you have good vacuum to the BARO at idle and look for leaky vacuum lines.

I would get banned from this site if I used the language I want to about my experience with A-1(NOT HAPPY). My fingers would get sore describing the whole situation. PM me your phone number and I'll tell you all about it. As for the burning through the intake gaskets I have seen it, but not on a 6.5 because I haven't seen gaskets with the manifold crossover closed, at least on the fel-pro's I got from Autozone and the ones from the dealer. I haven't seen other brands method of closing the crossover, so I supose there could be a brand with a metal block that works.Edited by: mattsparacio

I'm pleased to know that I'm not the only one that had a negative experience with our friend at A-1. Isn't that the same "happy motoring" J.O. ? I approched this guy back in June about a remplacement PMD and a relocator. I consider myself to be articulate enough to write a reasonably intelligent email...and did so by asking him a few questions about his product and my situation. He replied with some cut-and-paste mumbo jumbo that did not address my questions at all. Naturally, I recouched the same questions in my reply. His response was to say the least shocking. He started out by asking "Can't you read..." and it got worse from there. I responded by asking him if he treated all his customers this way. He then proceded to tell me that he wouldn't sell to me (big loss!) and that I was banned from his silly a$$ little propoganda web page (even bigger loss...visual of Jim crying a river). Seeing what's now posted, I'm pleased that I didn't spend the coin with this mental.

Thanks,

Jim
